When I ordered they provided a printout of the order, a copy of the credit card deposit, and receipt of deposit.

That's true. Just giving me that # will get me out of their hair so it's a win/win for us... it'll give me that peace of mind knowing something is happening, even if it's just 1100 and not just my cash in their vault doing nothing. Then I can get Joe to update me here and there instead of "Hey AutoNation, are we there yet?"

I don’t really understand why a sales person would do that. The only plausible reason I can think of is they don’t want you to get too excited until they have an allocation, but still. And to be fair, I’ve had three different order numbers, so maybe that plays into it. But at this point early in the production cycle that shouldn’t be the case for you guys.

My first order number was for a ‘21 back in March.
Then a new ‘22 order in early April when it was pretty clear I wouldn’t get a ‘21.
And then a third order number last week when my allocation came in and I switched to an SS. I think we could have switched the second order to the SS, but my dealer wanted to verify it would get accepted (no other constraint issues) while I was weighing the cost difference, etc.
