I'm in the same boat, and consider myself pretty technical (degrees in aerospace and mechanical engineering). I plan to buy some material to read and study over winter to better equip myself for spring. The work these guys are doing is making me envious.

it wont hurt to start on AFR. All discussions on MAF and intakes - is a good starting point. Everything else is finish tuning. Adding TQ is literally point and click, but there's more to be aware of. The E80A is an Enigma. Our car is all about air, air mass, air flow. most of whats out there is gen 3/4. the methods are different but the objectives are the same. i posted my educational journey here, hope that helps. we have a built in wideband so that's half the battle right there. I have the gen5 books so feel free to hit me up, it will keep me exercised over winter too. Its a ramp up so plan accordingly.
