Didn't see anything mentioned, did you install any shims on your DTC70 pads?

Shims will slow down the rate of heat transfer out of the backing plates into the pistons. Actually, it's the fact that it's two separate surfaces - technically amounting to adding a thermal gap - that gets in the way of the heat flow. Probably means the pads run a little hotter though.

Norm
Pads don't run any hotter but, it significantly reduces caliper temps.

Pads that do not have shims require shims to be added, since OP didn't run them that significantly contributed to the calipers demise imo.

I'm afraid that the pads would have to run a little hotter. Braking a car from speed is energy-limited rather than temperature-limited, and most of whatever heat energy you manage to keep out of the caliper pistons/seals/calipers/fluid has to remain in the pads. There may not be much pad temperature rise, but it will go up some.

Stock pads come with shims but your aftermarket pads probably did not. The shims, like the other guys are saying, can help reduce the heat that is transferred to the caliper pistons. Therefore some people using aftermarket pads add some shims for this purpose. For more heat insulation than a stock-style shim, the shims can be made of titanium. Girodisc brand part numbers for ti shims (SS/1LE fitment) were posted by another member before:
SS/1LE 6p (or GMPP 6p kit) fronts = TS-1382-4
SS/1LE 4p (same as base SS) rears = TS-1718-4

I found that for the base SS 4-piston fronts = TS-1001-4

Do the cars come with shims from the factory on the front? Mine only has shims on the rear pads.

They have a cloth/fiber type of shim, which doesn't do anything for heat but for noise.
