I briefly considered a GT500 while looking for a ZL1. Prices were off the hook.

Cool article...thanks for sharing. For all of you that own a ZLE you have an amazing track car and modern day muscle car. Me Likey.

But I like to 1/2 mile race and all that necessary downforce on the ZLE would hurt my top end so I went with the standard ZL1 and this car still looks BADASS. All my neighbors (seeing it backed into the garage...so they see the front end) call it the Bat Mobile...LMAO

I think the center console could have been better. Maybe not have it a hard plastic look and feel.

Forget worrying about the plastic GM. Throw an LT5 in the new model and let it eat!

It’s not that at all.

These mag types all have fake chrome & wood grain on the brain because that’s what Ford/ Chrysler/ European cars have. They rave about Mahogany or (insert fake flavor of the day look) to make them feel good about their over-priced shitbox they think so highly of because ”Muh Upscale feelz”, when in reality it’s largely BS.

Yes, there are certain drawbacks of any interior. Nothing is perfect. For me I sat in a GT500 & thought, “Well, this is pretty lame.” compared to my 1SS. Yeah the seats where neat but that god awful steering wheel & square brick for a information center was lame. Just uninspired. It just didn’t turn me on. I sat in my ZL1 for the first time & I was ready to give the old lady the patented what for.

I rode in a brand new GT500 and was totally unimpressed. Interior was inferior to the ZL1 and the ride worse. It squeaked and popped over uneven ground and didn’t feel as “sturdy” as my ZL1. Not worth the premium $$$ IMHO.

gtfoxy, you're making a good point about perception, unfortunately those keep prevailing in reviews.

I for one think a little padding underneath the plastic surface, even using the same texture like those GM does on their SUVs, would be quite sufficient. But these are absolutely minor nitpicks, I generally couldn't care less about these plastic surfaces I almost never touch anyway.

Im talking about the plastic that surrounds the transmission. The piece that separates the driver and passenger. That hard plastic.

GM could have put that rubber material over it at least to spruce it up a bit.

Like the guys on Everyday Driver said of the ZL1.
"One of the most sinister looking cars on the planet."

I selected my build specifically to outrun the Demon. My car is much lighter and has more power which pretty much covers the important bases.

I never see Chevrolet putting more power in a ZL1 than comes in the C7 Vette.
