You would think.. but it is a mixed bag when it comes to Camaro's. For instance a super low mile (25 miles) 2012 ZL1 went up for sale a couple of weeks ago on BAT and the bid went only to 43K. This was a car that stickered for 60K new and is in New condition! When ZL1's roll across Barret or Mecum.. very rarely do they get original price. We all know how great the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE are.. but when it is a low sales volume selling car, that usually does not translate to a high collectible car. Have fun with what you have and enjoy it. We are not promised tomorrow. |

If you can afford a ZL1, you can afford the gas. If you cannot afford the gas, then you likely cannot afford the ZL1.

Sounds profound, but the reality is that the boundary between can and cannot afford is shifting very quickly. Someone may have acquired a ZL1 in the past, but now their priorities may have changed as a result, or they may want to hedge their bets and sell the car.

I wouldn’t buy a used ZL1(unless it was cheap), knowing how they may have been treated. I want to put all the miles on the one I own.

I think about the cost of my camaro sometimes and really think, I could have pretty much just as much fun in an ss 1le or a car considerably cheaper. At the same time, unfortunately, i think maybe I want to buy something even more expensive (porsche)!?
when i bought my camaro i told myself though that this was going to be my long term gas fun car so i am really going to try to make it work, stop with the grass is greener... the manufacturers do a good job though of coming up with a better car every few years but it is difficult to justify dropping serious money every 5-7 years on a toy. |

There is a difference between being able to afford something and the fact that you should spend that much on it. Rich people aren't rich because they buy everything they "can afford". There comes a point where even though you can afford something you need to stop and ask should I just piss money away on it. Yes the car is fast and awesome and yes it drinks fuel and yes most people accept that. But with current gas prices and a tank costing 100 bucks just to drive the car for 1 day a week and basically pissing away 400 bucks a month on gas to drive the car 4 times is actually really irresponsible financially and has nothing to do with affording it. Now dont get me wrong Im right there with fascial irresponsibility LOL I bought one too.

well my 22 zl1 cherry tint coat has 1700 miles on it and all ready has the borla atak exhaust installed by dealer and was broken in correctly and has zero issues and tires are perfect as I wasnt hard on it at all maybe 2 or 3 full throttles and no launches at all. will be for sale at a dealer Monday as im trading it in Saturday. they are giving me 74 for it so im sure its gonna be listed for close to 80 but if you are interested message me and ill let ya know what dealer and salesman to call once they have the car as the deal isnt final just yet.

It does though, because no one is going to sell their used model for the same price prior to this price change knowing you can't go buy a new one without paying more. It absolutely drives up used car values.
