GM performance intake for 2020 SS

I would like to have the GM performance CAI installed - but I contacted my dealer and they are saying no longer available - discontinued.

I found the following link, which references part number 84651227, but my GM dealer says that is discontinued. I also see it referenced under part number 84877903, which I am also being told is discontinued.

https://www.chevrolet.com/performanc...6camaro/intake

I want the dealer to install it, because apparently there is a tune that goes with it to keep it under warranty and setup the computer for the higher airflow.

I found what looks like the same part from CAI directly - https://www.coldairinductions.com/sh...-intake-black/ - but I would rather get the official one if there is one.

Thanks!

CARB Compliance is costly, many people (myself included) never got the tune (wanted to, but a lot of dealers dont understand process...), etc.

Cold Air Inductions is a popular alternative, as is RotoFab, Mishimoto, etc. I love the look of mine and the increased engine sound is great.

Whenever my car arrives I want to do a Cold Air Induction. Looking at the Rotofab for SS without supercharger I didn't think it required a tune. I thought the same was true for CAI's unit in that it doesn't require a tune. Can someone confirm?

GM definitely discontinued offering the CAI and it is not listed on the 2023 Order Guide.

None of the non-OEM aftermarkets require a tune. When you start racking up the mods, a tune will be helpful.

since it is not CARB compliant, and Pennsylvania is a state that is, will installing a CAI fail emissions testing?

I've no familiarity with PA State Emissions, you could look up their testing procedures, though. I'd imagine only the truly strict states (CA, etc.) would fail, but I don't know.

85540675

Had my 2022 LT1 at the dealer for an oil change and inquired about the cold air induction. Ordered the car in Jul 21 and took delivery in Sep 21 and the performance intake was listed as an option for the build, but when they ordered it, it wasn't available. Parts dept said the old part number was 84877903 and the new part number is 85540675. The part number on the GM Performance web site is 84651227. The service manager said the engine wouldn't be covered if the part caused damage, but they've installed them previously with no issues and it doesn't require a tune. Anyone familiar with cold air induction P/N 85540675? I can't find anything about it on the Internet.

Rotofab Big Gulp or any other CAI that uses a different diameter tube will require a tune to correct the MAF scale. The standard Rotofab will not require a tune.

Correct, a standard CAI won't require a tune.

If you're going deeper and also supercharging, upgrading your intake manifold, etc. then you will.

Based on the GM Intake - just installed the 85540675 on my 18 SS 1LE ; No issues other than waiting two hours on hold with GM to confirm that the discontinuing of the part was going to upset the warranty on the engine at all... It will not, and the reason for not continuing the part... Sales was so high, that the OEM could not keep up without affecting the supply chain to their brand... I believe it since I am waiting over 2 months to get my BMR Suspension parts; Did get my Schrader Seat Delete, so they have stock and a quick turn.. easy way to drop weight

Where were you able to get p/n 85540675? Looking for one for my SS, I think most of the parts places are confused by the changing p/n

I am going to get a rotofab eventually. Nice to know that there were no problems other than demand for the GM part.
