Rear Cross Traffic Alert not working

Just bought a used 2017 2lt RS convertible.

The rear cross traffic alert is not working. I do not get any error or fault messages. The side detection works but only when a vehicle has gotten close to my rear bumper. When starting the car, I do get the marker lights in the mirror letting me know that the side detection is working.

Is there anyway to test the cross traffic system, the sensors or the module?
Where exactly is the rear cross traffic module located? From the diagram, it looks to be in the trunk or above the Gas tank.

Thanks

I do not know how to test the module, but there are modules available on ebay.

from the repair manual, it looks like these modules are mounted in the corner of the bumper cover, further out than the circular rear park assist sensor. There is no external indication for the object detection module like the circular dot for the park assist.
Below link applies to an acadia. But the location is almost identical to where it sits in our rear bumper.

Thanks. I believe that the side modules are OK. The problem seems to be with the rear cross traffic and park assit module.

I've seen the ones on ebay, but would prefer to buy it new. Don't really trust people selling used electronics like this on ebay.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
I believe all cars get the rear park assist sensors (4 dots visible on bumper cover) which share the same wiring harness as the backup camera.

The rear cross traffic and blindspot monitoring uses the two rectangular corner-mounted modules (hidden behind bumper cover) and a separate wiring harness.

Fantastic. Thanks guys I really appreciate the info. Now if it will only stop raining here in middle TN, I'll pull the rear bumper cover.

Good luck.
I'm interested in hearing how securely these modules snap in place. Wonder if they can become partially dislodged.

I pulled both fuses, I wanted to make sure that they weren't blown. Both fuses looked OK. But strangely the rear cross traffic started working.

Sounds like you just needed the "Hard Reset". Like pulling your battery cable for 10 minutes and letting everything shut down and start up again. You just did the local version.

I just tore my bumper off today. I took pics of it if anyone needs them. I had 1 backup sensor not working (not making clicking noises). I painted it, and only 1 coat of clear and replaced it but still get the Service Park Assist message on the dash. Darn it. Might have to try pulling the battery for awhile. I was trying to avoid the dealership.
