The cars I have seen with it look like the paint gets rubbed/scratched. PPF is king

I would never ever use one. 1) That look went out in the 1980s. 2) Anything that can flap against your paint in the wind cannot be good for it. JMHO

I have one (black car) and I have suffered zero paint damage 32K miles, I only use it in the winter and spring when the roads are sanded. Of course taking it off when washing the car and tossing it into the washer probably helps. That said it makes me feel better and does seem to help somewhat. $1200 to cover a grill and splitter that I can replace for almost as much didn't make sense. I have more paint damage on the rear quarters than the front end. It's a Chevy not a collectors car.

Used one on my SS. Worked ok, but around the headlights I still got all sorts of crap caked on.

I used this mask and it rubbed through the paint on the grille, down to the plastic. It also rubbed and dull'd every edge that it was contacting, like the upper edges of the top of the splitter. I kept it nice and clean all the time. I didn't even spend half my time doing freeway driving with it. It rubbed through in less than 2000-miles of use. It was nice protection for what it covered except for these instances. It's great for rock chips but totally farked for everything else. I should've just got PPF first, which is what I'd recommend anyone else. I hoped everyone else was wrong, and no one really commented on long-time use (that I noticed) with this bra, so I went with it first. I was wrong, as implied by everyone else pushing PPF.
AND - any bras cover what I think is ZL1's best angle - it's face.
