Am I a complete moron for even asking why the jack stands don't damage the pinch welds?

I performed lots of work on motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and watercraft, as a paid and factory trained professional for years, but on cars, I have very little clue.

The one back little for your jack stand has the cross brace bolted to it. Also you can't get to the center jacking point in the rear because of the rear cross braces! At least we get to go topless!
Seriously, I can't jack each rear corner to switch out wheels?

Ordered the universal mag pad, and I'm wondering if I got the wrong one. The magpad wobbles , doesn't fit snug on the pinch weld , that can't be right, can it?

Mine wobbles a little too but once the jack pad on the pump jack itself touches the magpad it centers on the pinch weld and no longer wobbles. When I let the car down to settle on the jack stand all was good. No worries - just let the jack pump release as slowly as you can and it will settle properly on the jack stand.

I looked under mine 16 2SS vert, and it looks like the rear pinch is accessible, you say no good?

Yes, I ended up lifting with the open pinch weld, and using stands with the braces, they appear strong enough to hold the weight of the car with no bending or shifting. I use smaller (2 ton) jackstands (prox $8 at Wallymart) and the width fits nicely with the brace in the second pinch weld area.

Well apparently they don't sell hockey pucks in my local sporting good store. So I pulled the trigger on the mag jack/puck combo, but was kinda bummed about the $11 shipping charge. $65 for this is about $15-20 too much for what your getting IMO.

80/20 for the pinch weld jack point

I had a scrap piece of 80/20 laying in the garage. I cut it to 2 3/4 inches and it works great on those pinch welds. Just need to find a rare earth magnet to glue inside of it and it'll be perfect.

I am going to be ordering a 22 Zl1 and will be putting the jack pads on the pinch weldS but I am wondering what the clearance is ground to jack pad. I want to see if I will need to get a new lower floor jack.

I have an SS with 305/35/20 rear and 285/35/20 front tires on 1LE wheels, which isn't exactly the same as what you'll get with the ZL1.

However, at least as a data point, my ground clearance with the ZL1 Addons lift pads in place is 7" in the rear and 5.5" up front. I have a Daytona 3-ton low profile jack that fits under the car with no problems.
