you think this is thin try a toyota. My wife's has so many nicks and chips I finally gave up trying to keep it up. Everything these days is about saving cost. the primer, paint, and coating is about as thick as cello around a cigarette pack. That's industry standard these days.

Door hitting other car chrome door handle at a harder force? This was a gentle hit, as I said about 1 inch from door being still. It was the equivalent of a gentle tap. Clumsy a bit okay but come on!

Paint wasn't that great back in the old days either. Remember lacquer? Lacquer paint liked to "check" after a few years requiring a full sand down to bare metal to fix it.

Or, how about the thin single stage paints that faded after 3 to 4 years. The only paint jobs that were durable were the solid color paint jobs on the old imports made in Japan.

I have the GM thin coat syndrome. GM can care less about there quality of there cars or trucks. They will continue charging 50k or more and will also charge you for there vaseline, so they can scew there customers even more.

I have touched up the spots and installed GM's splash guards and has help tremendous. I shouldn't have to buy $1,000 for ZL1 side rockers to fix a over paid GM engineer bad design. Thank God I only drive my car during the summer months.

GM can't see the light once again on why they can't sell there camaros versus mustang. I would not be surprised to see the camaro fade away, once again. GM seriously needs to listen to there customers or they will find themselves facing another downfall and they will come crying to the taxpayers to help out, so they can once again screw the customers.

The way you feel about the GM is the way I felt about Ford. The difference is, I didn't go out and purchase a Mustang GT. I purchased from the company I trusted more and couldn't be happier.

Then you must have a dealer that takes the beating (cost) because GM reps tell me it's a known issue and no fix.

If you're talking about the paint, it's a common problem. You'll see the same complaints on the Ford, Dodge and other forums. It's not just a GM thing

Unless it's an obvious issue like discoloration or peeling, I won't take it to the dealer. That's what touch-up paint is for.

Also, we all don't live in the same environment. Bought mine in Jan and it has a few tiny chips that I have to look for. To me, that's a non-issue as I've experienced the same with every single car I've ever owned. Someone else in a more rocky environment will probably have more chips and a higher potential for damage. Obviously, how the car is driven matters too.

Miss Daisy and grandpa Lewis driving at 2mph to the grocery aren't going to have much issues with paint chips.

happened to mine too and I can't even remember touching anything with it and I'm the only one that drives it. a little touch up paint will make it good as new though.
