1st time with 1LE at the drag strip - Slow trap speed?

I raced the 1LE last night for the first time, and wanted to get everyone's opinion on my results. While I am not too far off from what mag times claim these cars can do, I felt I was a little slow, especially in the trap speed. Does anything stand out from the below that anyone can decipher why I am slower? I am not a pro racer by any means, but I am not the worst either. According to most places I've looked, i should be around 12.5 @ 115.

I was launching at around 2k RPM, and using NLS for all gears except 1-2. For some reason I kept missing 2nd if I tried it with NLS. I can't figure out if it is just me, or the car isn't allowing me 2nd gear with NLS.
All other gears NLS worked perfect. I had the car in Sport - Competitive Mode. The car is 100% stock. It was night time and the temps were around 60*. The DA was about 600.

60': 1.963
330: 5.474
1/8: 8.283
1/8 MPH: 88.12
1000: 10.670
1/4: 12.707
MPH: 111.37

it looks like you’re losing the mph on the back half. slow shifting or shifting early to 4th...? looks good up to that point.

how did the car launch on that pass? i have an 1/8 mi almost identical. leaving on a prepped track i sidestepped it from 4500 and it fell flat on its face. 1.99 60’, 8.25 @ 88.9 mph. 12.61 @ 114.9.

You probably know this but just in case - did you lift a little early? The first trap line records the E.T. and second trap line records the mph.

I've had a hard time with nls from 1st to 2nd, I've concluded that it's only happened when ever I use nls and had rev match on. Whenever I nls 1 - 2 with our rev match on it works as it should, did you have rev match on as well?

Actually, the first trap line starts the speed measurement, the second line is the elapsed time (end of the run), and the average speed over the 66 feet between the first and second lights is the trap speed.

I am NLS'ing, and I think I'm doing it pretty quick... but maybe not. Don't think I am short shifting either, I made sure to rev out each gear. Do you look at the tach or the HUD?

As for launch, I basically launch off idle, 2k RPM max. The car wheel hops really bad or spins if I go any higher.

I am for sure not lifting off early. I accelerate to basically 120 before I stop, so I know I am in it well past my 111 trap.

I will have to try track mode next time. I tried Track-Race setting but when I went to the line and tried to spin the tires a tad while rolling to the line, it felt like the TC was actually ON, and wouldn't let me spin em'. I quickly changed it back to Competitive Sport mode before I took off. To get Track mode with TCS off, do I just scroll down to track and hit the TC button once?

Interesting. Yes, I did have rev match on. I will turn it off next time. Thanks for that info!

I've heard that is low as well, but if it makes you feel better I did 12.88 at 108mph, sounds around on par with yours. Maybe it's the elevation?

The track I was at is only about 600 feet above sea level. The DA was good too, so I really don't get it. I just need to keep playing with the modes and try racing in each to see if it makes any difference. All of my runs from last time I did in Sport-Competitive mode, but perhaps that isn't the best one for drag racing.

Did you try without NLS? I have heard it cuts torque similar to using the paddles in the A8 cars.

i doubt this is the issue. i logged my car while using NLS and of the 3 pulls, we saw timing retarded only 1-2* @ the shift. not enough to make a 50+ hp difference.

i race mine in sport-competitive.

op: is the car rock stock? fwiw i pulled the air filter out the very first time i went to the track. that small change knocked the trap speed down to 108-110. it was evident there was an issue as the car idled funny and bucked/surged on light throttle.

I only didn't NLS the 1-2, the other gears I did NLS. You might be onto something though because as someone else pointed out my first half was on par (where I didn't NLS 1-2) but the back half is slow. I don't really have anything to lose so I will try normal shifting it all gears next time.

The car is truly 100% stock mod-wise, even the air filter is still factory. I bought the car brand new, so I know it is not modified in any way. I did change some of the fluids to non-factory ones (Redline D4 in trans, for example), but I can't imagine that has any impact on the 1/4.

If you are trying to run really good times at the drag strip with a manual car them bias ply tires are a must. It keeps you from breaking driveline parts and hooks much better.
Also you can launch at much higher rpm with bias ply's on.

Turn rev match off and use NLS.

OP that is a good first outing! You can drive. The 1LE will be a tenth ot two slower than a SS. Depending on the air in my M6 SS good runs for me were 12.3-12.5. All nannies off! You can try taking your rear tires down to low 20s but no lower and be on gas fumes. And also the builtin GM bog will hold you back if you get a perfect launch. It helps.
