Excellent photos and summary of the process. It is awesome that the factory will still do this type of thing for consumers.

Good luck with your COPO and keep us posted on the use of it!

The dealer down the road from me was lucky enough to get one back in 2015, and it sat for nearly 2 years before they sold it. Think they finally unloaded it for around 88k.
My track here in southern Oregon has 2 that show up regularly. a 2017 and 2018 pretty sure (its brand new).

Great thread.. is that the 327 with 4.0L whipple? just wondering what the boost is and actual HP, rwhp? I can't believe 550 is really all it puts down..

FYI if your in the market there was a blue one for sale NA at the dealer in Bowling Green at Campbell chevy.. The owner just wanted the build experience and drove it 400 yards or less..

Great question. I had to go through Hagerty Insurance as normal insurance companies don't even know were to start when you cant provide them a VIN.

This is the S/C LSX 350 which is what I got in my build.

Here is more info on the motor options and the build components for each: https://www.chevrolet.com/content/da...pecs-stats.pdf

The HP rating are NHRA ratings for Stock classes (there are about 10 of them) which is why it is rated @ 580HP. For a better description of what I mean by NHRA rated HP, here is a good article for you:

http://www.nhraracer.com/content/gen...635&zoneid=132

While my build coordinator was extremely clear that they do not dyno each motor, they are hand built and are well over 1000 RWHP in actual real world #'s which would make sense if you play with this tool here:

http://www.dragtimes.com/horsepower-...calculator.php

Hope that helps.

Most sell for about what they cost. I know of three folks who I talked to who bought theirs to sell and sold it at a break even price. If you race it however, forget getting anything close to what you paid for it. It is not necessarily an investment car, it is an experience you are either willing to pay for or not. Having had 23 Camaros in my life, the only thing missing from my list was this car so I may end up losing money but it was never about that for me.

If I had 125k I have one in my trailer and heading to the track. Those cars are so loud its amazing. A buddy of mine has a 13 NA and a 15 SC. He went to Michigan and watched to final stages and picked the car up and said it was a hell of a deal to see the shop, the engine room and his cars have never been down the track and probably won't. Seriously they build a hell of a race car and yours is just a killer looking setup. Congrats

Don't you also have to have a NHRA license before they're will to let you buy one ??

The car comes with a voucher for tuition to the NHRA driving school (which happens to be only a couple hours away from my house) so that you can get your license. So, no...you don’t need the license to buy one but the price of the car comes with the tuition to the school so you can get your license to race one at an NHRA sponsored event.
