Power Difference Compared to 2SS
Hey everyone. I'm thinking about upgrading to a Zl1 soon to completely get rid of AFM and the AFM valves. How much of a power difference is there between a fully loaded 2SS and the Zl1? I know the 2SS has 455 HP while the Zl1 has 650 HP, but will it be too much of a difference to handle as a daily driver?
Thanks! |

If you drive like asshat.. either is too much power. If you can exercise control throttle, ZL1 is baby to drive around town.
Beauty of electronic throttle control.

Learn to modulate the throttle when you take off from a stop. As you gain experience with the car you will learn how to control the car.

To be honest, I always see responses to this question recieve over dramatic replies. Dont stomp on the gas and the car behaves like any other car....its not like the exotics from the 80s and early 90's that were litterly trying to kill you when you drove them.

If you had to ask this question then Yes it's probably too much car for you.

Come on King, OP asked an innocent question. Even if it were so, then what, is he never supposed to buy anything with more power because he isn't used to that much power? Chicken and egg problem right there... besides, he already drives a 2SS, not a Prius

If you let your grandma drive both, she probably couldn't tell the difference. The ZL1 is everybit as civilized as the SS until you put your foot into it. Only time the ZL1 is a hand full is on the oem Supercar3's in the rain.

I drive my modded ZL1 to work twice a week depending on weather... it does what you want it to do.
Very calm car with great manners. My ZL1 is listed for sale if interested.

SS - 390-430 rwhp on a dyno
ZL1 - 540-570 rwhp Having owned both, power with the supercharged engine is very easy to modulate, just more of it everywhere and makes the SS feel a bit limp. Car moves around a bit under full throttle in lower gears but reportedly can be remedied with 4 wheel alignment and new tires. In mine it's a very minor issue, traction control keeps it in check anyway The ZL1 feels more like a supercar to me and I love the wheels/ground effects, it's well worth the upgrade |

I came from a Camry to a ZL1....if I can handle it I'm sure you can. I drive my ZL1 every single day rain or shine and it has only felt difficult to drive when the tires are low. As the guy above said it can be a bit shaky when gunning it at low speeds, but the traction control is so good it's never threatening.
Easy car to drive. |

Owned a '16 2SS and '17 ZL1. The ZL1 is faster, but not really any different to drive at all. Like others said; as long as you don't gun it every time, you're good. If you get one with the goodyears on it, ditch those pos tires is you plan to drive in rain.
For as much power as it has, its actually kind of boring because its more like a maneuverable jetliner where you don't really feel the speed until you look down and youre already at "oh shit I didn't realize I was going that fast, time to take off"mph. Some consider that good though |
