Barton bows out
I contacted Barton about Camaro6 support Jan 17 about performance shifters for this platform and was told they were in the works and to check back in a month or two.
I followed up yesterday and was told Barton would NOT be releasing any shifters for this Gen Camaro. |

I'm not really surprised. We already have a pretty good short throw option with hurst (I can't imagine the market needing competition for such a niche item).
They probably assume that they won't sell enough to justify R&D costs. Not very many drive a manual transmission these days. I'm sure the installation difficulty is turning some people off of this as well.

Yup, I’m not surprised either. Realistically, the only way I’d get one, is if/when I replace the clutch and the transmission is already out of the car. If anything, I wish MGW made a shifter for our cars. I’ve had their shifters in the past and they were very high quality.

Call me crazy but if the sole product my company makes is shifters I would be doing everything in my power to sell as many as possible... As manuals seem to be slowly dying, that would mean supporting any vehicle or platform that still has a manual transmission.
Plus, erm, they already make shifters for the TR6060 and TR-3160 on other platforms... Doesn't seem like there would be a whole lot more to do. |
