old farts driving hot cars.

I ran across a thread ,from way back when, some young pisspot must have started it. I must say ,am I allowed to enjoy my 2015 RS ? I guess I qualify at 85 years of age. Did any of you get the performance urge when you were at a tender age ? I did in my teens, I have owned, Souped up Ford flat heads and Chevy in line 6 cyls , built a full house 50 Oldsmobile,a Studelac (53 Studebaker with a Cadilac V8 engine) , Modified Mazda RX7,Pontiac G8GT 6.0 And now 2015 Camaro RS. I still enjoy to kick her in the ass. Old Farts Still Rule

I'm 68 and I just got my 2017 RS up to 102 yesterday on the freeway when there was no other traffic around. I hope to still be driving it when I'm 85....

I am 65 and love bangin' the gears and hauling ass in my Green Flash!! Great therapy for when I get bummed out about something.

When I was in my 20's I was bangin' gears on 65-66 Impala Super Sports!!!

I'll be 74 in two months... Bought my 2SS RS new in Feb of 2014 as a present to myself for having to move from AZ to Nebraska.
So far I've only had it up to 90 or so, as I like to make it pull hard up to the speed limit plus a couple. Been at high speeds with other cars and didn't care for the stress that accompanied that, so I hold it down a little. The wife doesn't like the way the Camaro rides, so I get a lot of alone time with it - not necessary a bad thing :-)

At 52, top speed doesn't matter as much to me anymore. Knowing it'll do it is good enough. But bumpin gears at 4k rpm will ALWAYS be fun!

1st car was '67 Camaro in '76. Couple of Chevelles after that then marriage, kids, divorce, fun, marriage again. Bought a new GTO in '06 when was 48 and 2 weeks before the last kid moved out. Since then, 2010 Camaro SS, '13 ZL1 vert, '17 ZL1 coupe. Needless to say kids aren't getting much inheritance because I'm not slowing at all.

I'll be 70 this year. Always been a motorhead. Always had a hotrod of some kind since I could drive. Always will.

Definitely, enjoy what you want. Just the other day I saw a woman, had to be in her 60s, driving a Hellcat and all I could think was man that lady's cool, good for her.

65 here also. I’ve had to about 110 but it’s interesting, this is the first vehicle I’ve ever had that I haven’t gone out and found out what top end is.

I'll be 59 next week, my hair is half way down my back, my Harley has about twice the factory rated hp and my SS is 471 at the wheels. Never had a bone stock car, never will.
I drove 10 laps at Kansas Motor Speedway at 165 in a ex Cup car.. I still have the need for speed.

I am 68.
I still restore motorcycles and do basically all the work on our vehicles.
I have been doing this sort of thing since I was 14 and am unlikely to ever willingly stop.

So I guess I qualify as both an old fart and as a motor head...
And I'm OK with that.

The fastest I have ever personally driven a car was about 140 mph.
But I have gone considerably faster than that in cars as a passenger (race tracks) on a few occasions.
It can be interesting...
