IMO it's just another example of why you may want to hold off on the first builds or year. Try as they might, there will be bugs that get missed and will need time to get corrected. Good luck.

Panel gaps, LOL... who gives a $hit.

You get world class performance for, depending on options, $60-$100K and you're going to nitpick panel gaps?

Anybody worried about panel gaps on the C8 needs to just go ahead and spend the extra $100-$200K to get the Ferrari, Lambo, or Audi.

Panel gaps? Hell yes they should be complained about. A world class performance car that sells for 60-100K should not have the look of shoddy assembly. Sort of waters down the whole world-class thing.

I agree panel gaps should be complained about because it is something that shouldn't be an issue

I agree. If the build quality of my first year Camaro is better than a Corvette, there is a problem.

There in lies the issue. For whatever reason the Corvette has always had shitty quality control.

I have had 6 Corvettes of various years, all C5 or C6 generations. Every single one of them had issues. 2 were bought back on the California Lemon Law.

The SS 1LE is my first Camaro and it has been rock solid with only 2 very minor issues (clicking sound when turning & clunk from end-links).

GM in general though is not known for quality and is usually below average. The Gen 6 Camaro team is spot on, but everything else in their line-up, not so much.

It is sad that they continue to allow the crappy quality control on their flagship sports car, there is just no excuse for it.

Reading Bob Lutz's book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters you will quickly find out there is no excuse for bad panel gaps. There are only two reasons it happens, management is not giving assembly workers the order to meet tighter tolerances, or its the assembly line workers not caring. But it doesn't take long for the panel gaps to be adjusted in assembly. It comes down to a lack of caring in the culture of the company.

First off, it's not like the panel gaps are horrible and the car looks shoddy. They may not be as tight as some would like, but complaining about it is, IMO, nitpicking.

Secondly, putting together a car made out of plastic is a whole different animal than putting together a metal car. Way harder. That's not so much an excuse as a reason why Corvette tolerances are wider than, say, our Camaros.

Multiple, multiple owners are getting 0-60 times in the 2.8 second range and everybody loves the way it drives. I would gladly live with wider panel gaps on my Camaro if it would do 2.8.

I thought they dumped a bunch of money into Bowling Green? So, I hope they clean up the nitpicks, take this thing as close to price with a 911 as they can, and build whatever other grand vehicle(s) were in that plan for B.G.

Open up a clean price range for the Camaro7.

Some speculations (leaks?) about the upcoming Z06:
  • Wider body work (shocker! not)
  • Front tires 10 mm wider than Stingray
  • Rear tires 40 mm wider than Stingray
  • Michelin Sport Cup 2 Sport tires....same as Porsche 911 GT3RS and GT2RS
  • Z07 option could include carbon fiber wheels
  • Z07 option could include active aero
  • Could include center exit exhaust

The exterior fit and finish on my 2001 Corvette was very good. The Fisher Price interior was, of course, another story. Regarding the C8, I don't care what technology exists under the bodywork, there is NO excuse for poor quality control.

That’s going to be one hell of a car. Though I’m not sure about some of those comments trying to compare it with a GT350. Highly doubt it’ll be close on track between the two once the C8 get the Z06 treatment
