Is it blown?

Wanted to see if the masses have heard this before. I was on track, felt a noticeable loss of power, brought it in, and now sounds like this. 2017 1SS 1LE

Ouch! I recommend you do not start the car again until you get that checked out. That is bad news I’m afraid. It could be a broken valve spring that lead to a dropped valve or worse. Sorry!

Yeah that's not good. I'd pull that Rotofab off and the catch can if you still have any warranty left. If not looks like it's time for a possible rebuild at the very least from the heads up.

Is/was the check engine light flashing?

It almost sounds like there is a backfire through the intake, but like someone else above said that would be caused by a broken valve spring.

Another thing the valve seats on these LT1s are known to be very weak, especially when you put more aggressive cams in them.

Is everything else stock?

Light was not flashing, but it did have p0010 and p2089 codes.

Mods are not much, intake, headers, tune and catch can if that counts lol

Going to dive in tonight. Got a nice scope on loan, compression test, drop the oil and cut the filter and probably pop the valve covers and see what I see.

The only unusual thing I've seen is the plug in cylinder #1 was totally black and covered in carbon where the other 7 still showed the white ceramic and were not all loaded up.

Good luck man, hopefully it is something simple like a bent pushrod or something. Sounds likes you have a lead for cylinder #1 so start there.

Just from the sound it could be a rod. But sound on a phone isn't always what it should be. Pull the valve covers and see if you have a broke valve spring or maybe one of the valves aren't acting right.

New update - pulled the valve cover tonight. Cylinder 1 had the black plug, that is left most in the videos. The front most rocker only moves when you first crank the car and then not again. Below are two videos, one full speed and one slow mo.

Probably threw a rod, piston hit the valve and bent your pushrod. I'm still wondering if these engines can take a beating or if this is just a fluke. 38k miles is low. I never track mine but step into everyday for short stretches and bang gears pretty hard. Have 54k miles on mine.
