Far as the slide tensioner. Flip the washer 180 so the slot allows the pulley more travel to the left(inward towards the water pump) which should relieve some tension and allow the belt to go on easier.
This is how the adjustable pulley was installed when I took it off

Needs rotated 180. So the threads are on the left side. Look at it closely and you will see it's threaded off center.

So the longer end of it needs to be on driver side so the pulley will have more room to slide towards the passenger side basically? And as far as when I put the belt on, how do I know how far I should position the slider pulley? I haven’t loosened the slider pulley ever until now so I’m not sure where exactly it should be positioned

Yep...then just move the slider pulley far as it will go towards passenger side and tighten it down. That is where I have it and it's worked perfect with the 3.5, 3.375, and 3.25 upper pulley's using the same belt.

Well said King. That’s how mine has been setup all along as well. The auto tensioner should be pretty much right in the middle of its travel if you have the right size belt and slider set right IMO.

Hmm yeah I really hope this has been my problem all along, from what I remember it was basically maxed out in its resting position

Any reason you can use the GM tensioner and bracket from a Zl1/CTS and lose the slide tension setup and run the LT5 pulleys? or just use the LT4 oem stuff?

10 rib no problem using the LT5 stuff since its 11 or just convert to 8 rib..

12692675 Bracket for ZL1/CTS
12663624 Belt tensioner with 8 rib Zl1
12683675 Belt Tensioner with 11 rib ZR1
12678515 8 rib Zl1 96mm pulley
12665034 11 rib ZR1 96mm pulley
12678295 8 rib ZL1 77mm pulley
12665033 11 rib ZR1 77mm pulley
12665845 8 rib smooth pulley ZL1
12665035 11 rib smooth pulley ZR1

I will be going to 10 or 11 when I get my block built for more power I've all ready seen a little slip on a few months old belts at 1044 rwhp

2650 seems to have slip problems with a 8 rib once you try to overdrive it further than around 18% over drive from a 90mm upper and 8" lower.

I'm using a 3.0 upper and 8.3 lower if the belt gets old it slips every so often I've been just putting new belts and it work fine for 6 mos or so. but ya when I go to a built bottom end and do a 9.17 or 10 and 2.75 I want to have a 10 or 11 ready

Mine wasn't slipping when I was running a 3.17" upper and 9.06" lower. Still no issues with a 3.17 and a 8.4 either.
