VHT Taillight Compromise...

Trying to avoid spending the $450 on the dark tail-lights, decided to try my hand at VHT Nightshades.

My first attempt looked cool - but realized quickly that it was too dark - people were hi-beaming me constantly at night that I was invisible!

The compromise - I wetsanded down 2 sections so the red shows through. Looks better than all red, but I think this is the best I can do for $20...

Is it difficult to get the black out of the tail light? I want to do this but I want it to be reversible lol. I've looked at peelable options but supposedly they aren't very dark.

I painted my own about that dark but the cops pulled me over all the time. I convinced them it was factory and never got a ticket but it was a hassle. I wound up buying the GM tail lights. They are clear not dark.

I feel the same way about the price of gm tail lights. I kinda went the same route but left the hockey sticks un-painted and never had any problems from police.

Thanks guys. As for removal, you can wet-sand VHT off pretty easily by hand. Just use fine grit and go easy so you dont scratch the taillight.
