Vin # what do they tell?

I'm wondering? , I ordered mosiac black will i be the first??. Since Tr6 is the very first , can the rest of us find out what we may be the first of!?. I think that stuff defines a true car guy.

The VIN numbers are for the Camaro, overall, so you can only tell the production order per color if you have the full list of VINs. I have a near-complete VIN list for the 2010 Aqua Blue Camaros, but it wasn't easy to track down.

It is going to hard as the sequence is not just on the Camaro but the Cadi's they guild at the plant as well. So we would either need a list of all cars built at the factory or list of all camaro vins to determine how far in ours is. I do feel confident in saying that since my vin is 116990 that i am within the first 1000.

Right your vin is unique to your vehicle but the sequense is the last 6 digits is what determines what the order is off the line. Every year the plant restarts the sequence to what ever it choose to start the model year at and then let it run. A good test is to run 1G6AN1RY7G0116990 and
1G1FH1R70G0116990 thru a vin decoder. The first one will show it as a 2016 Cadi ATS-v the 2nd will be a 16 2SS camaro. It doesnt matter what you put the last 6 digits at they will always been either the 16 ATS-V or 16 2SS camaro.

Some line of cars will say that 100000 thru 300000 will be Silverado while sequences between 300000-500000 will be tahoes. This would allow you to check the distance from the starting mark for your model to see what car produced you actually were. The problem is that 116990 is a camaro and 116991 could be Cadi and so on. Its impossible to tell what sequences are cadis and what are camaros making it hard to really tell where in the line your car is without a master list.

I was a tech in the dealership, and went to tech school for r but I am no expert by any means anymore. The very first # in the vin is te country code for where it was built.
1 is US 2 Canada, 3 Mexico, the rest I kind have forgotten but I think Japan is 4 or 6, as well as Australia 8 get those mixed up. If you can find an SS or a g8 then take a look.
Or a Honda of Mitsubishi or something like that. The second digit or number is the manufacturer code. Tells you the brand.
The 10th digit or letter is the year the car was built. The 8th digit is the engine code.
I only know these 3 because as a tech I dealt most with te 8th and 10th digit. Every digit or letter has a meaning. What are you trying to find out? I have it all in my book and I can look for you.
