Our small town has a car show every Labor Day, draws cars from all over NE Ms and NW Al. I bought my 79 vette the summer of 87. It is a silver L48 with a white leather interior, aluminum wheels and mirrored tops (brittle, broken and long gone). I entered a show in about 89 or so, cost me $15. My car was completely original down to the L48 mufflers, slick with about 30K miles. In comes a 78 Indy Pace Replica with several moods inside and out. It placed with 2 other sharks one of which also had mods. I pitched a fit as I knew the judges & said that there should have been stock and modified classes. I still have the vette and my 17 year old son & I still catch the show, but I never entered again. Guess I too am a sore loser and tight with my $, Ha!

Most parking lot shows are really "vote for your buddy" contests. Winning or losing has little to do with the quality of your car. It is best to attend these events for a chance to hang out with car people rather than the opportunity to snag an award.

When I looked at other forums and judging sheet, it's a case-by-case as far as professionalism vs. flat out biased.
The biggest problem was probably you have a new car. Think about it. If someone showed up with a 2018 ZL1 off the showroom floor w/ 1900 miles on it and have it compete against your car, it would be odd. Also, if you maintain your car and take it to a show in 2026 and you're competing with a 2025 Camaro, you would question "why are they here? I worked hard to maintain this." They should have good categorization. Also, those older cars may have had some details yours did not. |

Our local show doesn't allow club members to receive any trophies - having said that, the other local clubs sure do vote up their own cars via participant entries. Luckily, Participants choice has always ended up being 1 of the top 3 or 4 vehicles to show up.
Going to take what I can from the feedback here and try to improve our show's award selection process.

Sorry missed this question - they are from C7 Carbon. Great price, paint and quality, slapped them on myself in like an hour
