Jeep teases V8 Wrangler or Gladiator

Holy cow...I never expected this. Awesome. Jeep trying to steal some of the new Bronco's thunder no doubt.

I hope GM has got some serious fire power planned for their next gen midsize trucks... Especially the ZR2. Ford will have the turbo V6 and FCA will have a V8 Wrangler and maybe Gladiator. If they don't, I may have to jump brands.

A. If FCA does make this vehicle, it is about time they dump a V8 in it. It has only been ~80 years since the release of the Wrangler. It should be pretty impressive.

B. IMHO, GM should have made the new Blazer a Wrangler/Bronco fighter instead of another boring CUV. It's heritage is that of an off-road 4x4. I certainly hope that GM jumps in on this segment, but judging by their current lineup and all of the news that we hear, I won't hold my breath. Barra is focused on EV's and more soccer mom CUV's.

For sure trying to steal Bronco's thunder. My sister who really doesn't care to much about cars is excited about the Bronco...ford's been advertising it hard on social media

I'm very curious as to how far FCA will take this as it's currently a concept. How many amazing concepts, that many an enthusiast would love to have, but never make it to market have we seen?

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the next gen Colorado get only the 2.7 turbo 4.

Agree we need an awesome Blazer!

Perfect timing for the Jeep. I also have a TJ. It def needs more balls.

I was hoping they were reserving the TrailBlazer nameplate for that. BOF Colorado based. But you saw what we ended up with there instead. Sigh.

At 310/348, it's perfect for mid size. And for the most part negates the need for the diesel in the line up. I realize we all want a V8 but only FCA is willing to stuff one in everything they make

I am sure it will. There was another article floating around that mentioned they built like 7 or 8 of them for testing and said that is not commong unless something is close to being given the ok for production.

Going to be one expensive vehicle though if it goes to production

Jeep goes for the v8 and GM wouldn’t give the Colorado the 4.3l in ‘15. That was a terrible mistake and they know it, that’s why they’re putting in a truck motor next time with the 2.7l. Although the 4.3 back in 2015 would’ve been a bigger impact

The word I read on allpar is in a front end crash the size and position of the motor is an issue. I mean I hope it happens, I have a SRT Grand Cherokee I really like but it be cool to have a regular Jeep with a V8.

The 4.3 would have been great. That said, I'm assuming the 3.6 just barely beat it on economy numbers and thus is the reason they went with the 3.6. Also, I will say that the 3.6 works just fine in the Colorado. I'm happy enough with my 2015 Colorado with the 3.6. In the newer models with the 8 speed it feels even better with better low end response than the 15 and 16 models. The 8 speed I drove a few times as a loaner felt like the equivalent of what I would expect when adding an aftermarket tune and a cold air intake to my 2015.

I've also read cooling could be an issue.
