I'm all for a EV Performance / Sports car ... ... but don't call it a Camaro

Let the Camaro die in its glory of the pinnacle of combustion engines and its name be remembered with a thunder and a roar when you ignited the ignition... ...not a silent 'hum' into the night.

Oh man, all these people who believe the clickbait headlines. Pure sales numbers over all options <> Profit! Only the carmakers can tell which car is profitable and which is not, since it all depends on which models and equipment are you selling with how much incentives and how much money you spend on other costs for the car like marketing and developing new models.
e.g. how much Mustangs does Ford have to sell to get back the costs of developing the 2nd 6th Gen refresh this year?

For the 7th Gen Camaro, who is still coming contrary to other clickbait articles, it's pretty sure that Chevy will offfer ICO, Hybrid and EV options - Just take a look at the latest customer surves. Take look at the GM press release to the new EV platform, where they mention the same "3.0s to 60mph" and an AWD option for a performance EV model.

So I'm pretty sure an EV Camaro is coming. Not as a replacement, but in addition to the other engine options like it should be. And I can't imagine that they really will wait 5 years to reveal this

Welcome to the forum!

Your ideas are good, but not new. We already know the Camaro is likely to make a comeback circa 2025 as a BEV, but still with ICE options too. In Al Oppenheiser we trust!

I simply don't like EV's. They are like driving your kitchen appliances. I love the sound, feel and smell of the ICE. I grew up playing a musical instrument for years until I discovered my passion- engines, cars and trucks. I spent countless hours at the library reading everything I could about the ICE. Then I started with lawn mowers, mini bikes and Go Carts. I love my current Camaro and old cars. I won't ever change. I dislike the EV's so much that even if the Teslas's were 1/2 price of what they are I would not even consider one. If I am forced to drive an EV I will buy the cheapest one out there and treat it as an appliance. Then I will buy a classic car or truck with an ICE for 50 or 75K and drive it once a week to car shows, no matter the price of gasoline.

Our grand children my grow up on EV's and may love them. Maybe they will tune, modify them, etc. like we do for our ICE cars. But it won't be me.

The only electric motor I want in my car is the one used to start a V8 engine....

Same here, plus they come with "complimentary" centralized control over our property anyway. There is a similar trend in normal vehicles, think OnStar and over-the-air updates etc., but a Tesla is a major leap in that (IMO wrong) direction, it's basically a large touchpad on wheels.

By the way, the fascination of getting software updates every other day wears off quickly when you realize you're at the mercy of their whims even with charging capability.

If it doesn't go electric, it has no long-term future. If it goes electric soon, it could come back stronger than ever.

You do realize EV sales fell across the world last year and went down in the U.S. as well. Reality is the marketplace doesn't want EV's as compared to internal combustion engines. Falling sales despite all the subsidies is the reality of the EV industry. Those are the facts take your trope elsewhere.

What's Happened To US Electric Vehicle Sales? - Forbes

www.forbes.com › sites › uhenergy › 2019/11/18 › whats-happened-t...

Nov 18, 2019 - The pronounced drop in sales, along with a similar decline in China, has prompted concern that future sales may fall short of expectations.

I will be thrilled if the seventh-generation Camaro is an EV. It's time for GM to reimagine the Camaro while maintaining emphasis on performance, style, and affordability.
