I'm not sure how toe would affect that far down the edge of the tire.

I'd pull the wheel off and look for something collecting rubber/cord bits.
Yeah, I'd look for some tire contact somewhere, like the top of the strut under the spring perch.
If it were camber it would be more gradual from outside to inside wear not just right at the edge. If it were toe you'd have feather edging of the tread, not a smooth wear pattern like that.

OP, you have mods or alterations from stock anywhere up front?

Or maybe it has seen front edge damage and something is bent under there?

There is definitely something else going on here.

What's your tire size and what is your camber/toe spec from the shop that did the alignment? Any mods beyond stock at all? Looks like something rubbing.

I’m 2.6* front camber with over 10k miles on PS4S tires, including three track days at Cresson. Even wear, probably 5k miles left in them.

Actually, looking at the pic real close, the inside tread seems gone as well. So likely not rubbing. Perhaps excessive toe, and/or excessive understeer in R hand side corners under "very aggressive" cornering, perhaps on very abrasive pavement? Just a guess.
Can you send a pic of the L tire please?
Plus your alignment specs. Also, did the shop check your current alignment to ensure it hasn't moved?
Lastly, what mode is the car in when you "corner very aggressively"?

That tire has to be rubbing on something.

That's a good idea. I will check that when they are replaced next week. BUT, the other side is starting to show the same thing, so ???

I went back to Costco, where I bought the tires. They don't do alignment. I will be using a different, specialty shop to do the alignment this time, and I will go back to OEM specs.

Costco was great. They discounted the replacement PS4S's based on the mileage proration. With 11,000 miles on the tires, I'm paying $570 mounted, balanced, including tax.

Thanks for the help guys.

So here are the alignment results. Done in October, 2018, and again in May, 2019.

Two questions.

1. The toe in October looks ok. The toe in May is off. Can that amount of error kill that front tire in less than 2500 miles.

2. "If" they were not reputable and did shitty job, could they print out a bogus chart from the alignment computer?

Thanks.

Did you put 285/35 tires up front?

The alignment in May looks good, better than October. The "before" in May has bad toe out in front, but they fixed that.

Both times the specs walked. The before in Oct is horrible. This means the shop didnt tighten things up properly. Assuming it was the same shop and they increaed camber in Oct and specs walked again: not surprised by the results at all. As this would only accelerate inside wear. The question that remains is what are the current specs (to assess any change between Oct and now). Yes 2500 miles is enough to ruin tires, especially if road surfaces are abrasive (high content of gravel in asphalt, or concrete).
