Ordering my 2016 tomorrow!

Hi guys!
This is my first post here. I have been a lurker for a couple years now. I currently have a 2015 1LT Camaro with RS package which I bought in October 2014. I saw the new 2016, especially now in my favorite hyper blue metallic color and I've got the itch. I called my Chevy dealership, whom my partner and I have bought our last 4 cars from, and asked her about preordering the new 2016. She hadn't heard of it but she did not hesitate and told me she would ask her manager and get right back with me. So she called me late afternoon yesterday and told me I could come in tomorrow and get everything submitted! Yay!
I am going to be brave and upgrade to the SS. I am going back and forth between the two. The radiation oncologist I work for recommended very highly that I get the magnetic ride control since he has it on his 2015 Ferrari and he said it was the best thing ever. So I was thinking of getting the 1SS, adding the lighting package, and MRC. I remember reading on here that I needed to make sure my order was submitted as SRE? I think that is it, something about the dealer not being able to change the price once the car arrived. Also, I should try and ask for invoice pricing and if not, then not to go over $500 MSRP? Also, I've read different opinions on deposits, some dealers aren't requiring any and some are making them pay $500 - $1,000.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated as this is the first time I am pre-ordering a car the way I want it.

MRC is an available option on both the 1SS and the 2SS.

The lighting package is standard on the 2SS, is not available on the 1SS or the 1LT and is available as an option on the 2LT as part of the Convenience and Lighting Package.

Getting an SS for Invoice or $500 over Invoice seems reasonable to me.

GM has a history of raising prices in mid production year, sometimes up front as a raise in MSRP but sometimes hidden by raising Invoice price and also adjusting employee/supplier pricing. If the order is SRE (Retail Sold) then the dealer can be reimbursed for the difference if there is a pricing adjustment. The dealer does not raise the price; GM raises the price. We do not know that will happen we only know by history that it often happens.

My dealer only asked for $1,000 deposit that applied to the car to hold the first slot for their first allocation of their V8. You can now walk in and place an order for cars at most dealers without needing to put money down.

Allocations are still limited and it seems to be a mixed bag on what dealers have available for V6 and V8 options.

So, did you end up pulling the trigger? If so what did you go with?

Yes!! I went in this afternoon and it did seem that I knew way more than the sales staff thanks in large part to the great people on this forum. My sales associate went on to the chevy site to price and build even though I told her it wasn't on there and then she got confused. I told her it has to be submitted via the GM workbench. So she checked with her manager and came back and told me they could get an allocation for an SS model. I had been leaning towards upgrading to an SS but I was in between the SS1 and SS2. So I made a quick decision to put in for the allocation of an SS2. A few minutes later she brought back a checklist of the options which did not include any prices. So I told her to pull up Becky's list of prices to get an idea and we went from there. I chose the Hyper Blue Metallic 2SS with Jet Black leather, added MRC, NPP, automatic transmission, and ground effects package. They didn't ask for a deposit and the sales manager said he would call me and verify my order before he hit the official submit button. He mentioned something about not being able to submit orders on the weekends. I will be sure to ask him a timeframe. The sales people told me 5-6 weeks but like I said, I don't think they knew a lot about this. The finance manager, who is a friend of mine, told me it should be quicker after production starts, maybe 4 weeks. Not sure what to believe.

I would throw out any time frame the dealer quotes you to be honest. It is not known yet when production will start but it is expected to start the week of 10/5. Even then its a new run vehic so there will be extended delays for extra qc. If all went well I would expect mid november for the cars made the first few weeks but if there is any type of delay for any reason that could easily fall back into Dec.

Yes Becky I took your advice! I went with what would make me happy! I sat in some of the new cars they had in the showroom and really liked the feel of the leather after all, so I decided to go with it!

Pretty impressed with so many people getting invoice pricing right out of the gate for a brand new Model. I hope this continues for the Zl1. Congrats!!

I've had so much trouble even getting my order in I'm afraid to ask for invoice pricing.

Congrats. Sounds a bit scary when the sales department is in unfamiliar territory. But I'm sure all will work out. Now just sit back and wait...and make those monthly payments.
