Factory Wireless Charger

Im curious if anyone elses phone is just to large to charge on the wireless charger?

The phone will sit on an angle because of the length of it compared to the little inlet for the phone to sit.

Anyones phone still able to charge like that? I dont really have a smaller phone to test that out on. Otherwise i might be searching for a phone that will 100% fit in there and charge lol

Just curious as to what others have had to do. Or is it something that needs to be turned on in a setting somewhere? I am currently going through the owners manual but i havent found anything yet.

Even if the phone does charge, it will bounce around if it isn't sitting on the rubber mat.

What I did about the same problem in addition to upgrading to the higher spec 2019+ wireless module was trimming the shorter ends the rubber, see below, which allowed my phone to fit. (The light gray color along the surface of the cut is just the phone's camera playing tricks, it's the same color as the pad.)

The wireless charging pad design in this car is quite shortsighted, unfortunately.

I'm surprised no one makes a replacement that will fit larger phones.

It's GM part number 84526978 (or 19421449).

FYI I've also attached the last wireless charger compatibility list I used, there might have been updates to it since then.

Just wanted to say thanks for the hack! My iPhone 12 finally fits. Everyone with a phone that’s todays size should do this.

You can simply lift the rubber pad with a plastic trim tool or maybe even just your nails, it isn't attached to the plastic tray. I trimmed it with an x-acto knife.

I'm going to try this trim modification but the thing I've not really seen it as more than a impractical gimmick due to it's location for the most part. No way it will ride there the way that I drive LOL

This might be a springtime mod. Although I have a legit wireless charger in my 2021 F150 that really don't use much. I have an S22 Ultra that's big and I doubt the "mod" would work for mine.
