How long will our batteries last.

17' SS 6 speed. Over 58k miles. Coming up on 6 years. How long can we expect our batteries to last? With winter coming I'm thinking of replacing mine to be on the safe side. Am I right?

6 years is a long time for a battery. I've had them last longer, but they were expensive AGM batteries. If it's the stock battery, it's due for a change.

How much will it set me back?

Replaced mine last fall after 5 years. Wanted to do it before putting her away for the winter. Paid $175 on Amazon for ACDelco Gold 48AGM and my dealer installed for $40.

Usually factory batteries are 2-3 years. Ever since 2008-09 car fiasco they no longer put in long life car batteries. Cost too much to replace all the car batteries on the lot because the cars weren't selling.

A good bet, would be what the factory warranty is on the battery.

Not sure but mine is still going strong. Same year as yours. If I add that sub and amp though…

Did my '18 this summer. Also bought AC Delco on Amazon for $185. Install took me 10 minutes. Super easy.

The OEM battery is AGM and being located in the trunk away from the engine's heat might help it last longer than the average car battery. Auto parts stores usually will test them for free while they are installed in your car. My 5 year old OEM battery passed one of these tests recently.

Replaced mine last fall... OEM battery from 2016. Still worked fine, just a peace of mind thing.

I think only certain models got AGM. Pretty sure my 2017 2ss is flooded cell. I will check. Got mine in late 2016.
I have gotten 7 years our of a factory GM flooded cell in an old Acadia. 5-6 years is probably my average.
I probably will not replace it until I see some signs of reduced performance. New batteries are a crapshoot.

I’m probably due. Anything to be aware of when swapping them yourself?

Just check mine in the 2016 and it still has plenty of cranking amps. My 05 truck lasted 15 years before it lost a cell so I think it's luck of the draw.
