110 Octane
What happens if you put 110 octane leaded racing fuel in a stock Camaro SS. I need to know before I make a dumb decision. I’d be getting the car tuned for it though if it makes a difference.

Without converters....nothing. Lead destroys the catalyst in the converter

Alright, yeah if I do get it tuned for it I’d do a cat delete anyway, but I’m not getting it tuned for it if it doesn’t even make a difference. We don’t have any e85 pumps around where I live.

Also, if it is going in a STOCK SS, it won't make much, if any difference. Just a waste of money. Stick with 91-93 premium fuel. Until you add any "power adders" to the engine you won't reap the rewards of the big octane boost on a stock engine.

Yeah it’s just so hard to find around where I live, but I appreciate the help y’all! I’ll probably just wait until I get a little more done to the engine. Full bolt on etc.

110 isn't going to do much of anything for a stock compression engine - you simply don't have the demand for more than about 93 octane. If you're looking to find a fuel that can add power, look for (and tune with) an oxygenated fuel - those can add legitimate power, but it will be very costly. There are better ways to add power.

I believe the lead would foul your o2 sensors too, besides cats. Might take more than 1 tank IDK but I don't see much reason to do this.

I have a friend that runs super late model dirt cars, he runs unleaded VP HP101 - 96.6 MON, 106 RON, 101.3 (R+M)/2
The stock LS is high enough compression ratio that it doesn't hate good fuel. He only uses fuel out of drums that have been open 6 weeks or less. If he comes up with "old" fuel sometimes he'll call and tell me to come get as much as I can put in. Free is the best price you can get! If you put "race fuel" in a stock car with cats as pointed out above make damn sure it's unleaded race fuel. |

Even FBO won't gain a lot from full 110 octane. Unless FBO includes shaving heads and bumping compression up quite a bit.
