There were 2 fire trucks across the street from me last night. I believe when the one backed up down the street to turn the corner his back fender ( the metal part where the firemen stand on ) got caught on my car and dragged it a bit . The police are looking into a neighbor’s security cameras to be sure. Doesn’t seem like any suspension damage so far wheels are straight, I drove back and forth on the side street no noises or steering problems.
Don’t want to crash driving it. When I parked it wheels were straight they turned when it was hit.
The whole quarter panel was moved at least I can open the door.
Must’ve been a good jolt because the trunk popped open.

Firemen do a very important, dangerous, and noble job and deserve to be respected for their service. With that said I hope they didn't know that they damaged your car like that, and decided to just up and leave.

That will be easy to follow up on. If the cop is competent, they’ll have dispatch pull the dispatch logs and look for corresponding scratches on firetruck from the serving firehouse and compare height of damage between both. Even if metal, there should be evidence on the firetruck.

There should be some red transfer on their platform as well.


I’ve never met a fireman who would intentionally leave the scene after knowingly tagging a vehicle.

Actually they knew what truck it was 10 minutes after they came they told me they would check out the truck and the neighbors security video. Just waiting for them to get back to me.

Well that’s terrible! Damage isn’t too bad but will probably be in the $3000 to $4000 range for repair. Of course just guessing on that! Hope it works out for you and Good Luck!!

Never heard of this as it results to vehicle accidents. Police action yes, depending on the circumstances. (Baker acts / domestic violence arrests etc)

All of our GOV Vehicles carry our city's insurance cards and are provided to all parties as part of the driver's exchange.

A lot of times, hit and runs will be forwarded to the traffic unit for followup. I wouldn't be too surprised at a delay. This one should be pretty cut and dry though but they may be waiting for driver to go back on shift depending on when they actually did the initial followup.

Insurance company said they would look into the police report if it’s them on the accident report I get my $100 deductible back. I got rental on my insurance but I must pay 20% of the bill. It’s only $2400 estimate from the insurance hopefully there’s nothing in the steering messed up also I drove it seems the steering is good , no noises so far.
