2017 SS Won't Perform

I have a 2017 SS, 6 speed manual, 9K orig mi and and have been reasonable with it up until now. I've had the car upto 160 mph, it did it well and had more, seems like the car has great power, Chevy says 455HP? Anyway I was hanging around with some guys the other night and they said "lets see what that thing can do!" I revved it to like 5K and tried to burn the rear tires but it would barely spin em, I tried it twice! I had it on "Sport" mode. I have had Trans-Ams, GTO's and similar in the past and could always put down nice rubber for at least 50-75'. Am I missing something? Is there something I have to do to defeat the traction control or safe driving mode or whatever? I figured this thing would go completely beserk?!?!

You would have to put the car in "Competitive Mode" or completely turn all the nannies off and then the car will let you spin 'em!

To get in competitive mode, flip the car into sport mode then double click the traction control off button twice (with a slight pause between the clicks).

If it doesn't spin 'em in competitive mode, to turn traction control all the way off hold the traction control off button down for 5-10 seconds until you get the warning on the dash. Do this while in Sport or Track mode. Hope this helps!

Best bet is to just turn everything off for burnouts.

No wonder you can't do a proper burnout with traction control on. You can try competitive mode as SpecialPurpose_1LE described, but for just this it's enough turn off traction control by pressing the button once.

I had no problems doing burnouts with my 2018 at the drag strip using competitive mode.

When I want to hoon around a little I always use a rolling start with just traction control off. I roll out in first to about ten mph then slide in the clutch, tach up to 3-4 K and then drop the hammer. It will lay rubber all the way to redline. I can then slam second gear and continue burning rubber. It never fails to perform. I use this approach as for me a clutch drop from a dig is just a little more drivetrain abusive than I want to be.

Sounds like driver error, these cars are a breeze to break rubber in. Even easier if you still have the stock drive flat tires still on.

Yes, you are missing disabling TC/SC.
