Rear end noise

Anybody else noticing rear end gear whine? I thought mine was initially tire noise, but on decelleration from 50ish down to low 40 MPH I'm noticing a whining sound that goes away when I give it gas. So I'm pretty sure omit isn't tires. I really hate to take it in for this, but it's in a speed range that I'm driving in constantly.

Mine is actually the opposite. I have noticed if I am cruising around 70 in 6th gear at light throttle to just keep speed; there is a high pitch whine from the rear. If you roll into the throttle harder or let off, it disappears. It is actually rather annoying cruising down the highway. My '10 SS did not do this at all.

I used to always worry about drivetrain " noises ". Actually to the point where I couldn't sleep. Is it normal? Is something coming apart? Did I get a lemon? When I got my zl1 I told myself I'm not going to worry I'm just going to enjoy it. All I hear is screaming engine, screeching tires and an awesome exhaust note. As long as nothing is leaking or falling off I'm just going to drive it.

I had the fluid changed at 1000 miles and I don't think it changed the noise. I used the GM fluid. I've been pretty easy on the car during the breakin period.

My ZL1 sounds just like what you describe. For what it is worth I had the same experience with my CTS V coupe. Both manual 6sp.
Followed the break in with both cars and the noise did not go away after changing the rear end diff fluid.

Have you taken it to a dealership for a proper diagnosis? Please let us know.

I hear differential noise when at a constant speed. It sound like gear whine. Not to concerned, it under warrantee. Otherwise car runs and feels fine.

Thanks Brandon. Not yet, but I will soon. I wanted to see if others had the same issue before I took it in.
