It's normal for this car. I've had a few cars that retain heat if left off after a run within the duct work. I've had two recently that do NOT. The Honda does not retain heat within the ducts. My Crown Vic does not. I am trying to figure out the engineering on these. It seems that there might be a check valve that could be used to prevent hot radiator fluid from getting in the heater duct coil when not in heat mode. I'd like to know "why" this does this however, just for the education.

So what I'm gathering from reading this thread - it's normal for 5th gen camaro air conditioning systems not to work properly?

Now, it may not meet your definition of proper. All they (we) are saying is that it can be a nuisance if misunderstood. Clearly understood, one would be properly informed. |

do you have the "ac" turned on? If not then sure it will be ambient to warm air.

Mine was blowing warm air out of the vents at night when the outside air was a comfortable 69 degrees, the exterior and interior of the car were cool, and the temp dial was far to the left. I moved the vent to the right on heat to make sure, which warmed it up a lot as expected. My numerous previous cars, including older FBodys and other Chevrolets, have always blown air out of the vents that without the AC on that was almost the same as the outside temp. Apparently it's "normal" for this car, which is irritating, but liveable.

mine blows out hot air but if i cut it off after using the ac it blows out cold ac air then it starts to blow out air thats the temp of the outside.

Warm vent air
All 2014 canaria do this. And probably other years.
I went to the dealership and asked them to check if a heater door was not closing but to do that they need to pull the dash and windshield. I said forget it Two theories. First, I think the heater core has hot coolant circulating all the time unlike the older cars where the coolant flow turned on and off A test to see if this somehow allows contact of the hot heater core with incoming air would be to clamp the heater hose and see if things improve Second, you could look at the air flow diagram of the plenums to see if air intake pulls air over a warm area like the engine Does anyone have the passenger service manual who could look at the air flow and also confirm that the heater core is always active? |
