Where did Oshawa hide my security lug socket?
I bought a set of black Gorilla lug nuts so I can swap out the OE chrome ones. I've seen pictures posted and the black lug nuts look SOOOO much better! I looked for the "special" socket that fits on the security lug nut each wheel has and I can't find it. Its not in the center console compartment, or the glove box, or the trunk, or the foam unit that holds the tire inflater. I called the dealership where I bought my 1LE and they will get me one, so having to fight for one isn't an issue (thank goodness). I can't remember where I found the one in my 2010 . A neighbour has a yellow camaro RS (with 20" wheels)...if he would let me borrow his socket, would it fit my lug nuts?
I'm going to do one lug nut at a time so I don't need a jack and tighten each nut to 110.....I'm GTG right |

...so the dealer put on the security lug nuts but didn't include the socket? Sounds like a scam to make me cough up more money for the socket

I think the OP is saying he can't find his factory one....he wants to put the Gorilla nuts on but needs to remove his stock lug nuts.
It's possible that they factory forgot to put it in or the mechanic who PDI'd it has it in his tool box. It should be in the glove box or centre console...but look everywhere, under seats etc. |

The locking wheel nuts are dealer installed, not done at the factory. They are keyed a dozen different ways so it would be a long shot if your neighbour's key will fit.
I would just go back to the dealership about it. They should have a master set to take off the lock at the very least. Do you have the stock lug nuts in the car to put on from there back home to install your gorillas?

My 1LE did not come with any security locking lug nuts... but the Gorillas are great. I've had 0 issues with them.

So are the locking nuts by the dealer standard or an option?

The dealer installed locks or locking lug nuts are an option. The price was most likely buried in his purchase price....Either way they are not installed from the plant/factory so the dealer is the one that should have put the key in his car. -Matt

My 1LE did not come with security locking lug nuts, these are an option. Black Gorillas are on order.

I called my salesman and they are going to see about it. I looked at my window sticker and if they are dealer installed, it must be included in the overall price. The dealership is 90sec from where I work so I would have to make a special trip with my camaro (vs my work car) in order for them to figure out what security socket I need. I think if the dealership put on the security lug nuts on and didn't include the special socket, they can figure out what one I need and I'll pick it up. Just thinking about this is really starting to piss me off!! More work and trouble for the customer......never fails
LINMUP....I will look under the seats but I haven't heard any pinging (metal on metal) sounds |

That sucks man. sounds like they just forgot to put it in the car.
I'd just get a wheel lock removal tool and be done with it. GL |
