Sitting at Railyard

Has anyone had their order not move once arriving at the destination railyard? Mine is at 4800 status since around Feb 3rd and hasn't moved from the yard. I know there's a transport and driver shortage, but I would have thought a contracted delivery operation wouldn't sit on deliveries.

I appreciate Joe providing me with status updates. My dealer isn't helpful. Of course, there's nothing either of us can do except wait until it arrives.

Yes. The way the entire automobile transportation system is operating right now makes no sense. The Camaro I'm waiting for arrived at the destination railyard on February 8 and hasn't moved since. I spoke with the dealership on Friday and they hope it will arrive this week, but after reading your post I'm still not optimistic that it will.

My salesperson told me the week before the car arrived at the rail yard that the new ETA was February 22. Initially it was January 31. So I'm wondering if it is still February 22.

Rail transport is rarely fast. A lot depends on when the car carrier rail cars show up.

Mine sat in the railyard for a couple of weeks before being loaded on a train and then sat for about a week at the destination railyard. The hardest part is there is really no tracking/status updates during that whole time. When my dealer finally got notice that it left the destination railyard on a truck, they relayed that info to me with an expected delivery the next day. The truck showed up at the dealer 30 minutes later... so basically your next real update might be delivery.

Thanks. The dealer previously told me an ETA of 2/3, which was correct. Except that must have been to the destination yard.

Probably, that was probably the ETA from Jack Cooper Transport which handles the interim transport from LGR to the various railyards.

If your car has been at the railyard since Feb. 3rd, I'd speculate that you should be getting close to being loaded (maybe within the next week, but don't hold me to that ). Then it's just a matter of riding the rails to the destination railyard nearest you and final delivery. Hopefully you see the car in early March.

It's getting close, but of course it gets harder to wait the closer it gets.

I've had mine since just before Christmas but with all the snow, ice, and salt on the roads have not driven other than coming home from the dealer. It's incredibly hard looking at that beauty everyday and not being able to drive it. Spring can't come quick enough that is for sure.

Thanks. It's at "4800 railyard unload", so it's at the destination railyard in Memphis. Cooper transported it to the Michigan railyard on the 18th of Jan, 5 days after it was built. It moved per schedule until it made it to 15 miles from the dealer.

A week at the destination rail yard is about what I would expect, but you never know given the way things are now. Hopefully mine is going to be on a truck to the dealer this week.

I’m hoping it will arrive this week too. I really didn’t want it to show up the weekend after it was due since there was an ice storm in the area and power was out to a lot of the city. At least the weather here is 30-40 degrees warmer now.

The weather definitely plays a part in the process, especially during the winter months. I'd just as soon mine not be a truck during a snow/ice storm.
Hopefully both of our cars will make it to their respective dealerships this week.
