Air filter

I’m still in the learning process with my first ZL1. Since these cars are forced induction, ingesting a lot more air, does an aftermarket high flow filter increase power? Thanks.

Better off removing the snow ingestion blockers in the bumper area to allow the airbox inlet to get more air. I didnt notice any change with a Green filter aftermarket for the stock box. The inlet opening up def helped make boost quicker though.

I agree with Nemo that it didn’t make a difference in my ZL1. I bought a Summit Racing brand panel filter and can’t tell any improvement except that it can be cleaned and oiled just like a K&N filter instead of buying replacement filters to throw away when dirty.

The 1st thing I did was throw on a K&N.

Can you elaborate on this snow blocker mod?

Green filter and a ported TB. Combined they cost less than a CAI and are a better up front mod IMHO.

Are those blockers behind the headlights, at the entry to the air box or something?

There’s a small plastic piece that partially blocks the air inlet behind the grill on the air induction side for a true ram air effect into the stock airbox! That’s what Nemo was referring to in his reply.

Sorry Mal, not sure about it! Send a PM to FoundNemo if you want to ask him questions on how to do it!

Grab a Rotofab intake. They will make legit power, won't void your warranty and look good under your hood. Hit us up and we'll get you a great price.

I'm proficient mechanically but not too motivated to work on my car at age 72. How difficult is the install?

Also, oiled or dry? Why do you offer both and what's recommended for a street only car?

Thanks.

Also, any independent dyno numbers by forum members who have the Rotofab installed on a stock motor?

Thanks.

To pull the blocking plate, remove the upper radiator shroud (careful its sharp) and the annoying to get to hood latch, let it dangle. You can reach down and pull the pry pins out to remove the black plastic piece. Then reinstall the rest. Not super hard, just an annoying job.
