In 2019 one of my lifters failed, dealer ship replaced everything car has ran fine since then, till today. Once again a lifter has failed. Does doing the dod delete help this is issue?

YES!!! All the lifters stay in the "Locked" position. I have a AFM/DOD delete module in the classified section.

Yes you should do definitely do the dod delete kit if you want to stop replacing those darn lifters all the time, and its a great opportunity to change your camshaft since you'll have to anyways.

The Range disabler keeps this from ever happening by not letting the lifters transition to the AFM/DOD position. |

You really don’t have an option on whether to swap the cam on an actual DOD lifter swap to regular lifters. The cam lobes on the DOD cylinders are different.

Yeah, a DOD delete could definitely help with your lifter issues. It's worth considering for better reliability and performance. But it's smart to chat with a mechanic first.

Thats not how it works at all. When the solenoid opens, oil pressure is forced onto the sides of the lifter, pushing the locking mechanism's IN, which unlocks the inner lifter body from the outer. |

I can’t really tell much difference in what summit says and what you are saying. Maybe where the oil flows in? All summit really says is that oil flow causes the lifter to collapse. It doesn’t say by what mechanism.

After digging deeper into this, I actually learned something from Mr Bob that I wasn't aware of with these lifters! They actually DO lock up with a pin and oil pressure control, I just thought it was only the oil pressure that did the work. Here is the video I found that explains it pretty well. I did though have the function of them correct, just didn't know there was a sliding pin involved.

By defeating the AFM/DOD you keep the lifters "Locked" and avoid the chaos that comes with a lifter lockpin failure. (I still have a RANGE module in the classifieds..... hint, hint) Bob |

Also..... IF I ever have a L99 cam disaster, I'm for sure not going to put another hydraulic lifter cam back in. Why do all that work for nothing?
I'll step up to a solid roller deal. Just a few more parts like adjustable rocker arms is all that's needed. |
