Hi Guys,
I purchased the White Summit automatic 1LT just before Christmas , without the RS package or any other options.

My final cost was $31, 272

How much did you guys pay for your car, and please list additional options. Thanks.

A little more than $40,000 for my 2SS with automatic, dual mode exhaust, black 5 spoke rims, black bowties, navigation, and sunroof. I put down $5,500 and had my trade in to help with taxes.

Is this including the 5% sales tax in your state? What on earth did you do to get such a deal

Yep! Tax rate is on difference of trade in instead of price paid on new car.

So the dealership in Rogers, MN had my Camaro listed for $43,295 (around $3,000 under MSRP) and my trade in was $14,000. So I was taxed on $29,295. Which is $1,464.75. I put down $5,500 (half cash and half from the difference owed on my trade-in) So that comes to $39,259.75 or so.

One of the stupid things this dealer does is etch the VIN into the windshield and charge extra for it. Which I had ZERO idea until I was signing the papers. I'll see if my insurance gives any sort of discount for this, but IMO, stupid and useless.

That is a STEAL! I guess it depends where you live. I see them at MSRP or above here so I have to heavily leverage discounts

A lot of people don't realize that. I didn't remember until reminded by the dealership. My trade-in is $40,000 and the car will be roughly $44,000...so I am only paying sales tax on the $4K difference. Makes a compelling argument for trading in versus selling private party.

Yeah, Rogers, MN is close to Minneapolis, so it's a really competitive area. If my custom order went through here, I would have been paying MSRP minus ~$1800 with GM educators discount. So I would have paid more for a car with less features.

Exactly, that's what really pushed me to trade in versus private sale. Any extra money I would have pocketed would almost all go to taxes on my car. Also having to deal with people wanting to test drive, haggle, etc.
