Warranty Help (Anyone with Mods)
I am getting a ticking noise from the passenger side of my car which there is a TSB for just recently. My issue is that I have Long Tub headers/tune/flex fuel sensor. Obviously none of those things should cause the ticking issue, especially since there is a service bulletin specifically for it.
Has anyone had experience getting stuff like this fixed under warranty with mods? I called and they said I should be fine as long as they find that the mods didn't cause the issue so I am dropping it off Friday. Should I swap my flex fuel sensor out for the old fuel line before Friday just to be safe? Help!!

Check the headers for a leak. Some exhaust leaks will tick just like a lifter.

Here's the TSB: Ticking Rattle Or Buzz Noise Heard The Best In The Passenger Compartment Vehicle Technical Service Bulletins Ticking Rattle Or Buzz Noise Heard The Best In The Passenger Compartment TICKING RATTLE OR BUZZ NOISE HEARD THE BEST IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT #PIP5395D: Ticking Rattle Or Buzz Noise Heard The Best In The Passenger Compartment - (Feb 8, 2018) Subject: Ticking Rattle Or Buzz Noise Heard The Best In The Passenger Compartment imag Supersession Statement This PI was superseded to update Model Years. Please discard PIP5395B. The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI. Condition/Concern A customer concern of rattle or ticking noise that is louder inside the vehicle than outside. The noise may be picked up at the back of the left valve cover. The noise may also sound like a lifter tick. This may also be called a fuel line buzz or ringing noise. Recommendation/Instructions Listen to the fuel line connection at the left side of the engine. If the noise is heard best at the fuel line (this sound will be real loud with a stethoscope). The fuel feed line between the high pressure fuel pump and chassis fuel line could be the cause allowing high pressure pulsation back to the low side of the fuel system. There is not a good way to test the check valve, the line will need to be replaced. On pickups and SUVs, a vibration in the fuel line at the fuel tank may also be observed. There are two different fuel line types that contain this check valve and vary by model.

No idea. If it's only in 8th gear I would guess it's something different. Mine does it all the time in conjunction with RPMs

if you found a dealer here in SD that said you should be fine with mods, I wanna know who they are haha! Maybe the sound was there all along, and you're just noticing it now? These LT1's are noisy AF.
Be sure to record the sound you're hearing before you take it in, just incase they don't hear what you're talking about. Also check out this thread, and compare: http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=506235 Maybe even add your recording to the collection.

I have something similar but I only hear it under low RPM and can be heard on both sides. Wonder if it is this or the AFM valves.

Based on that TSB I would remove the E85 kit from the line and recheck the noise and definitely leave it off until after the repair. I say this because the TSB relates to noise in the low side which is where the E85 kit mounts.
For the warranty issue it's a 50/50, as long as GM doesn't get involved. |

I would STRONGLY suggest getting back as close to stock as you can (with in reason).
While in for that being inspected, they can make note of the mods for future visits .......... as they could try and "hang their hat" on quite a few things with the flex fuel mod if you have any engine issues down the road Good luck ! |

Time to get a big set of tools and a field service manual. Your car is now beyond the scope of what the dealership is willing to tackle.

I have found that Chevy dealers will not jerk you around with Warranty unless you do a Tune.
Add on stuff like exhaust, headers etc shouldn't be an issue. |
