Mounting a tire at home?

Hey guys, I was driving home late last night and got a flat, a nice 2 inch slash. I was only 400 meters away from my house and had run flat tires, so I just took it the rest of the way at 5 mph. Well, now I need to replace the tire. I'm wondering if it is realistic to mount the new tire at home and everything. I don't want to drive the car out on the flat, and I'm willing to learn how to mount it at home if it is possible and reasonable.

Well....
Take off the wheel and bring it to your local store shop or dealer. They can easily install an new tire and balance it.

Trying it yourself will result in a damaged wheel adding to your cost

Look up the videos online about the Harbor Freight tire changing stuff. Hilarious.

I wouldn't suggest trying to change tires at home. It's difficult to do and risk of damaging something is high, especially if you've never done it before. Not worth the risk to save $30 IMO.

Without the proper machines it is impossible specially the RF or UHP tires. They should be pre-heated to a specific temperature through and through and not just the surface. If you use the standard machines it will go out of control and you will damage the tire and the rim.

I worked at a tire shop for several years as a kid and run flats were hard to do even with a professional tire machine don't do it at home!

OP we need video of you trying this...

I kid, I kid. You wont be able to mount a RF tire at home. The sidewalls are amazingly stiff and not very pliable. It usually takes 2 people at the tire places with the machine and leverage bars doing it to make sure they dont knick the wheel.

Let the local dealer install it for you.
