then you are getting a deal. Considering a standard NX kit runs $2500. You'll need it installed and tuned, which should run another $1500. That's without any progressive mapping software, which runs another $500. But, that's the system I'd run. I'd pay a premium for the top kits out there.

$2k.

http://www.nitrousexpress.com/246069...ontroller.html

$500.

We are at $2500 with a small ass 10lb bottle. Shipping. You are looking at around $2650. Install should run around a grand. We are now at $3600. Tuning.........if you don't want your shit blowing up, another $700. Putting you at $4500. For a done right, installed, and tuned kit.

But, what do I know.

$1000 for a NOS kit, installed? Wow. yea, take your car there and check in with us a month from now. You can't even get the lid for $1000. smh.

Of course, I'm talking about a Zl1 so. Not a SS. But still, you gonna pay if you want it done right.

Sooooo OP has an SS, not a ZL1:

http://www.nitrousexpress.com/20938-...te-system.html

$925 shipped. not $2,000+

$1000 for labor is like 17+ hours of labor? I have no idea where you got that number, but I think the most I ever did was 10 hours, and that was tucking all the relays behind the dash, taking off all the interior panels and running the lines/wires in there, and setting up a purge and automatic bottle heater, and remote bottle opener. The going rate for labor in my neck of the woods is $60/hour.

Tuning, I have no idea who you go to for tuning, but the going rate ranges from 400-500. and that's from a reputable tuner.

and basic window switch, like the dual window switch from nitrous outlet is MORE than enough for a basic plate kit... and is $300 cheaper.

So $4500 might be a TAD bit exaggerated.

The $1500 does seem low, but you have to remember that the shop will make a considerable amount of profit off the tuning portion. They won't have to pay for credits and the tuning would not be complicated. Just adjust fuel jets for AFR, and pull the plugs real quick for timing. You are looking at maybe an hour.

So does $500 for 6 hours of work seem reasonable? because that's what it is.

I'm a huge advocate of "you get what you pay for" but just because you spend more, doesn't make it better.

but hey, what do I know... I never had nitrous, worked at a performance shop, or anything. You have a bigger budget, you are obviously more knowledgeable

Considering I have the highest HP non cammed Zl1 on the boards and prob in America, I think my tuner and builder knows what they are doing.

For a proper set up with safety precautions a priority, it's gonna run $4k for a nice set up. For me. Cus if I'm running a 100 shot, I'm gonna want to make sure I have EVERYTHING I can have to make sure my motor stays in tact.

I actually don't know any shop who would charge less than that. My secondary tuner wants $5k for a proper NOS set up.

I think you guys think you can just buy a kit, put a bottle in the trunk, hit a button and splash. You have 100 shot of NOS. smh. This isn't Fast N Furious. But, go ahead. Buy that cheap shit. I'll be laughing when your motor blows up.

If you call my builder and say, I want a proper...........A proper NOS set up. He's gonna say, $4k. Installed and prob tuned. I was out a bit on that. Tune will be in that price point, but either way. You ain't getting a NOS set up for $1000, $1500. Not happening. Proper tuning should run you $500-$700.

But, that's just me. I added cooling mods when cooling wasn't needed. Just shows you how far I go to watch out for the motor and the performance of my car. Which is why, again, I'm putting down the power that I am.

Innovate makes what I would consider a must have for nitrous. It moniters bottle pressure,AFR and RPM. You can set windows on all three parameters that if it deviates it kills power to the nitrous solenoid. Could very well save you thousands.

4500 sounds a little high

Well the SS Kit looks to be about 1,100 cheaper than the LT4 kit. Labor and tuning will all be variable depending on the area. I agree you are for sure going to want to make sure the tuning is done right so nothing goes boom

It all depends on what type of system you chose to run with. Doing it right cost money.

Myself here’s my cost:
$1500 NOS high rise plate system kit
$495 stand alone fuel system
$225 purge
$195 nos window switch
$300 LPE retarding timing box
$800 Tune
$125 switch panel
$185 heater pack
$85 pressure switch
$200 wire/various parts
Total $4,110. Not cheap to do it right.

Do it right, don’t be cheap it’s your baby.

Labour - nothing. Installed it myself.

I would say a super charger is in fact harder on an engine.

You do NOS because it kicks like a freight train all at once will no boost delay.

Why do you think the big boys have a supercharger and NOS. Because NOS gets you to the finish line quicker then just a super charger.

Myself I want natural aspirated on the street and NOS on the track.

And there you have it!!!!!! Well done sir. A properly installed NOS kit. As I said, $4k and up. And you didn't even pay labor. haha. Btw, what shot you running? Looks like a gorgeous set up. I'm still debating on doing it. I can barely keep what I have now straight. I can't imagine throwing a 100 shot on my Zl1. But, I'm leaning towards it since I just installed the NX lid.

You got me. I made this account almost 10 years ago and used AIM to help out other members, because I got tired of clearing out my PM box.

I will even strengthen your argument and say that if you look at my ls1tech account and camaroz28 account (from my LT1 days), that you will see I even list an ICQ number, that should REALLY show how long I've been in this hobby.. (Same username on all three forums).

If being a long term contributing member to the LS/LT community discredits me, then by all means, you really got my number.
