Magnuson Self Install

Greetings everyone. After A LOT of research I decided to get Magnuson's Heartbeat Supercharger System. I got the complete kit with their in house tune. I will be installing it myself at work Only problem is trying to get the time off to do it. Can't wait for it to be done. One question I have is about mounting the new Elite E2-X catch can. Right now i have the Mishimoto catch can but the coolant reservoir for the new Maggie kit mounts in the location of the existing Mishimoto catch can. Anyone running a catch can with a Maggie? I probably won't be able to install it until the first week in May

I planned on leaving this car stock as it's my daily driver... well it stayed stock for a year and 4 months. That's long enough right?

Congratulations and best of luck on your install.

Sorry, I'm not the best at editing pictures, but I'd make an angle bracket that picked up the hole marked with the arrow. Then use the supplied bracket to mount the can where the circle is. The two would meet where the star is. Does that make sense??

Home Depot has some metal brackets that you can just drill up...

I think so yes... Thanks Techturtle. Very helpful.

Does anyone have a pic of one installed in this location?

Nice.
Can you give a few updates along the way when you get into it.
Wouldn't mind knowing how difficult a project like this would be.

yea definitely... I am a home garage mechanic, like most of us. I restored the Camaro in my profile pic, never worked on too many modern cars like this but can't be too tough. I actually work at a Toyota dealership and we've installed plenty of TRD Superchargers ( which are Magnuson Superchargers) but my buddies here have never installed one on a real muscle car/sports car like this. Seems like my coworkers are almost as excited as I am!

I've been working on my install since the middle of March lol Unfortunately I get about 2hrs a day to work on it depending on the time I get off. I have the same can and as soon as I finish my headers I will be mounting it on the passenger side next to the coolant reservoir.

Some advice that might be helpful during your install

Skip step # 19 its not necessary they will stay in place on the fender on there own.

Step #116 specs have changed from .248 - .314 depth ask me how I know.

Step #154 I was able to avoid that step all together.

Enjoy the new power and I love mine. Look at my stats and that's what you can expect. I'm going to the track again and plan to run 10.50's. Only mods are Heartbeat, pray tb, drag pack and CAI. Its so much fun to have a 10 sec car and drive it to work. Hell yes. If you have any questions let me know.

In my opinion - unlike the Z06, the breather/separator system on the 6th gen Camaro performs really well. I'm running the engine pretty hard (700+ RWHP) in mine with the Maggie and still haven't found any reason to add a catch can. Just had the blower off to install the LT4 injectors after 18K miles and all looked great! Let us know if there's anything else we can help you with.

I installed my Magnuson myself and I did not drain the coolant nor remove the fan. I used a heat gun to heat the crank bolt and it the bolt came off quite easily. I sold my Mishomoto catch can and bought a Moroso catch can and placed it on the passenger side between the radiator and the fuse box. I had to do the new harmonic balancer pulley twice as the first new pulley had what I felt was a crack after installation. I sent pictures to Jannetty who forwarded the pictures to Magnusson. Magnusson sent me a new pulley overnight and I had to reinstall. The project was actually an easy install. I should say that I insulated the bottom of the Magnusson intake prior to insulation. My $.02

Good idea on the heat gun. I'll keep that sticky in the back of mine mind in case anyone ever asks.

I've just got the Mishimoto catch can still on mine, but had to use a custom bracket. It's also not sitting in the same location - it's up front on the passenger's side. I helped another person from the forum with pictures and will check to see if I still have them. I apologize but they're not the best. It's very tight under there and difficult to see exactly where the hoses connect once you have the Maggie installed. I'm not really seeing all that much being picked up by mine either.
