Let's take a poll and see just how many of us are having the issue continue. Please note that if you choose "I do not have the groan" that means that you have NEVER had the groan. Otherwise please choose accordingly. I know its a little lengthy but it's a starting point as to where this problem stands and the possible solutions

I have the groan and I took it to the dealer. The dealer talked to GM and they were told the groan was normal. I do not believe it is normal.

I had the groan; took it to the dealer, and had the fluid changed. The groan returned.

I get the occasional tire scrubbing coming out of my driveway. Almost feels like I have a spool! But no groaning from the diff so far.

I have it, only happens when it is cold, goes away after 2 or 3 left turns. I haven't brought it into the dealer since there is no fix for it, not wasting my time and getting aggrivated.

Never had the issue. Changed the diff fluid at 1000 miles or so and have yet to have it at 5200 miles. Bought the car in December of 2015 so it should have been one of the earlier ones made.

First noticed it around 5k miles- March 2016 build. Changed the diff fluid on my own with AC delco 10-4034. Groan persisted, but was much improved. After 1 month with the new fluid, it was completely gone, even at 0 degrees farenheit. I've put on about 3-4k miles since the fluid change.

I have a 2016 Camaro 2SS that's been sitting in my driveway for at least three weeks now!
I have replaced the rear diff once already and its replacement is already making the same noises. The local dealer is willing to replace the rear diff once again but wants me to sign off on any other future repairs. GM will not cover damage to rear diff due to hear say of reckless driving (they claim my Camaro was on social media and they have proof) so this puts forth the blame on me. I'll be responsible for any future rear diff issues?!? In process of attaining a lawyer.
The mileage on the first rear differential replacement was at 2300 miles roughly. I'm now just over 7000 miles.


GM is completely oblivious to this ad and will not back it!

I have the groan and dealer blamed it on torque converter, well the tc fixed my shaking car issue, but the groan is still there in morning. It's gonna suck when they all start to fail at 4 years when warranty expires.

Sorry to hear about this. Although I love the SS I drove, reading this thread and other posts give me pause.

You could open a BBB case online.

What most don't realize is that GM has to prove to a BBB arbitration panel that said use caused failure.

I wouldn't give up my warranty on the diff.

GM rarely spends the time and money to try to prove anything in these type of situations.

Going in for oil change next week. Hoping for cold weather. This will be the second time trying to get something done about the rear end groan.

M car (2016 2SS) had the diff groan starting at about 4,000 miles. Only when starting from cold for the first couple of left or right turns.
Took it to the dealer who said GM were aware of the issue and advised doing some figure 8's in a parking lot to stir up the diff oil and lubricate the clutch plates.
Well that didn't fix it so I took it back to the dealer. They drained the oil, found metal particles and got the OK from GM to change the diff. I had to wait about a week for parts to come in.
That was about 2,000 miles ago and the groan has not returned.

Same boat. It's annoying but I'd rather have more of a failure before letting them check it. Otherwise I'll get the old "we couldn't replicate the problem" or "normal noise" excuses.

No brand new car that can easily push 50K MSRP should have a "normal" rear diff noise.
