OK, guess I will be crawling under my car tomorrow. Hoping for engraved letters!!! BTW, this a big f up from GM. Sure they are doing the right thing, but they are gonna loose a boatload of $ fixing this.

I would recommend the last 6 numbers in the VIN be added to this site. I just noticed a brand new car serial number 143241 was tagged in the recall.

Bulletin 30990 (Oil Pickup tube bolt retention)

THIS IS FOR 2016 CAMARO SS / 2SS MODELS ONLY. (Also for 2016 CTS-V's)

I know there is a pretty good size thread however, I figured I'd post this here as I do have the bulletin so it doesn't get lost somewhere in the thread and for people to find it easier. GM updated their dealership network SIS (service info system) over night. I called my dealership and made an appointment for monday morning. Make sure you get this checked ASAP as IF you do have it. It is a LONG and PITA process to implement the preemptive (or simply put, fix) process. It will require them to put the entire engine on a cradle to hold it up and get to work. On average, it's a 9 hour work and not everyone can do it, a gen 6 camaro/ c7 corvette specialized tech is the only one who can. So bank on a couple days at least, IF you have it.

Here is the entire Bulletin 30990 in PDF which you can download via my dropbox OR view it via the attached bulletin as PDF here:

Prelim GM PDF here, looks simple but as turk says, getting the oil pan off is labor intensive..
More info:

Go to: https://my.gm.com/recalls and enter your VIN. If this pops up, even if you aren't having any issues, you still need to either check the oil pan yourself or have the dealership check to see if the number is engraved or raised. If it is raised, you have to get this done as it will prevent any issues that may or may not occur. If you don't get it done now while knowing it, it will be your responsibility if things go bad.

How do we check the engraving. Do you have to go under the car or can you see it in the engine compartment?

I just made a brand new thread WITH the actual service bulletin and what Glen shared on there so it's much easier for people to see and not get lost in this decent size thread haha.

Serial number 146384 in recall whereas 148830 not in recall. So the cutoff line should be around these numbers.

Bulletin leaves me non-plussed as far as identifying whether my car has the issue. It says to remove the "left side front compartment side noise shield", not sure where that is.

Anyone know if the lettering on the pan is visible directly from underneath the car?
