My dealer has a very very good body and paint shop they run themselves and I used before for other cars and for my paint job on my ZL1 front end swap.

Let's see what happens.
Did they give you a nice rental or a Prius?

In all honesty, looking at the pics, a wet sand wont help either. Thats something UNDER the clear. I cant imagine how this slipped through QC. I really hope the best for you. I would be pissed.

Tolerable is inexcusable on a $40,000 Chevrolet.

I'm sorry this is total BS......they will basically take off a small layer of clear
then you have to trust they will not burn the paint with a high speed buffer or mar any of the adjacent moldings with the sanding process.

If this problem is truly under the clear coat, then the only way to resolve this is a re-paint....and if it goes to that level they need to strip the car of all the trim and bumpers....mask it off....and respray...As long a a good painter does the job, the car will look good if not better than factory.

I wish you luck and hope the dealer has a good body shop....wet sanding and buffing is truly a skill.....

Personally, if you are in love with the car, I would try paint correction first.

You waited a long time for this car..you deserve more....like a replacement!!!

That sucks, I'm not sure they are going to be able to correct that.

I have to ask, why did you accept the car like that? I would have never taken delivery like that.

I was talking to a detailer this week, its rail dust. Common thing that can happen to white cars. Can be buffed out.

Look up IRON-X - spray it on, wait, turns purple where it finds rail dust, wash off, clay the car and your done for all about about 30 bucks....EVERY CAR THAT HAS BEEN ON A RAIL SHOULD BE DECONTAMINATED THIS WAY...

Dealer has a plan in place with an outstanding body shop. If they have to wet sand the car they will be taking the panels off the car. The statement I got when talking with them is "we do it the right way or we don't do it"

My car had scratches all down the decklid and top of the spoiler as though something rough was dragged down the top of the trunk. I didn't notice it at the dealer as I took delivery at night. I am sure it happened in the monster QC hold. But, it wasn't through the clearcoat, so I buffed it out . Thankfully, I have all the power tools necessary to do this.

My Diamond White Tri-Coat 2014 Cadillac ATS had the same issue (same plant also, remember). I never got around to remedying it because, well, the car's motor blew up 2 times in the very first 4,000 miles and spent 57 days in the shop so I sued GM and they took the car back. The color was great, but I couldn't get over the rough paint, specifically on the fenders.
