My 1LE is my dream car, I love it. However, my lottery car is a 458 Italia.

cough cough Grand Sport..........it is a 7-speed, but that should not disqualify it.

Had a '17 SS 1LE all last track season (about 20 days) and loved it. Fell for the Corvette discount hysteria over last winter and bought an '18 Grand Sport M7. Did four track days with it, sold it on Bring a Trailer ( https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...-transmission/ ) and bought another '18 SS 1LE to finish the season with. It was marginally quicker than the 1LE but no more fun and diminishing returns (from my perspective) cost wise. The 1LEs were $20k less. Admittedly at 6'2" I was surprised how little room I had in the Grand Sport when I finally drove it with my helmet on (wont ever test drive anything again without a helmet fitment test!). I was never comfortable in it. Had to pull the seat forward and ghetto lean the back to fit. I never encountered it on track because I have a more linear braking style than my buddy, but watching him in his Grand Sport occasionally lose full braking at 135mph at our local track due to engaging "ice mode" was also motivation to ditch. He sold his at the end of the season and bought a '19 SS 1LE to replace it... Bang for buck, you can't touch an SS 1LE for 9-10/10ths track driving. I love mine.

Man, thanks for the feedback! My research so far has been in regards to street manners, reliability etc. I have not even heard of the "ice-mode" braking issue, that is frightening tbh.

Thanks again for taking time to give your experience, some serious food for thought as I want to buy my next toy in about 18 months.

There is no disputing the value of the 1LE, there is nothing like it on offer from anywhere. Also makes sense to go cheaper for a car that will have a more abusive life on the track. I wanted to try something different for my next car, but can't overlook the insane value of the 1LE.

I still on occasion imagine a 3500 pound 2019 Chevelle SS in a hot rod red, black stripes, 355s in the rear, 305s in the front, all of the chassis and suspension and handling hardware of the ss 1le as well as the modern tech features. Equipped with a naturally aspirated engine 500-600hp like the LS7(without head problems). 6 speed manual trans, 19 inch forged rims with simple 5 spoke, high end audio equipment, that would be my dream car

That moment you realize you almost described an SS 1LE with about 50 more hp and 200 lbs less

Dream GM car? An ATS-V as originally planned with the LT1 V8. Basically a more refined Camaro SS with better visibility and imo looks.

On a couple occasions walking to my 1LE in a parking lot ive thought, that this car really is a close match to my dream car, the only underwhelming thing is the power in my opinion - which of course can be altered

So have at it, what would be your dream GM car? And how close does our cars come to that

GM was talking about it. Way back in the day before they came out with the 2010 Camaro.

GM chose the Camaro.

What really sucks?
GM noticed how the retro Camaro took off.
Today? GM is manufacturing every single model of vehicle they offer with the same nose as the Camaro.

Have you seen the new Chevy Blazer? It's a 4 wheel drive Camaro.
