Very basically, A projected tip has a long red hot piece of metal further in the chamber , heat range only deals with the ceramic surrounding the center electrode.

Much appreciated. I also did some reading on the subject. For anyone else wondering.. non protected is for high compression or boost applications it essentially makes it harder for “hot spots” in the chamber, decreasing the chance of detonation. Go with the non projected for our cars!

Bumping this up for a good deal, not sure how long it will last. I was going to order my pre-gapped NGK's through Adamtuned.com, when checking out I was informed of the massive NGK backorder. They offered an upgraded Brisk option for the same price ($45 pre gapped) The picture shows RR14YS's, those would have been fine, but to my pleasant surprise, I opened my package today to find the RR14S pre gapped! Pretty good deal IMO.

Is any benefit replacing the stock plugs straight across for these. Not going a step hotter or colder?

It's been awhile and I while was looking for first hand feed back on the different plugs that have been discussed, including plug gap.

Can you experienced guys shed some light on your experiences with the aftermarket plugs.

In the future I would like to run the racechip once the bugs have been worked out for warranty purposes.

Thanks,

After increasing boost via other modifications, I was getting some blow-out of the plugs. Going one step colder and closing the gap solved that issue and the car runs great.

NGK 6510s gapped at 0.022." The stock plugs were gapped between 0.032" and 0.034."

So what other modifications increased boost to cause blowout?

For the guys running the Brisk RR14S do you know what spark plug gap you are running.

RaceChip GTS. Not 100% certain that that was the cause but it was my best guess. When I replaced the plugs, the problem went away.

Is there any noticeable performance gains over the the stock plugs?

If the RaceChip increased boost enough to cause spark blowout then I'd dump it quick. There's gotta be something else causing the issue atleast i would hope so for those that spent money on RaceChip.
