Opinions needed for repair
Heys guys,
Of course, right after getting my car detailed and ceramic coated, some a-hole while backing into a spot hit my rear bumper. I wanted opinions on what to do. First I'll start by saying I'm not involving my own insurance because the deductible costs the same as getting the bumper repaired. I contacted my apartment complex to see if there are cameras. Now that that's out of the way here is the damage. As you can see, It's just damage from someones front license plate screws. The "lip" on the rear bumper actually does a decent job hiding it. Aside from getting the whole bumper taken off, repainted and filled, does anyone know if I can just get the edges of the holes filled with some type of bondo and just get it touched up? Would any shop do this? I talked to one and they said no. Would it look worse if I had what I am suggesting done? If you were in my position, would you just leave it be? Thank you for any suggestions. |

I'd say a decent shop could blend the paint without taking the bumper off. They will have to take the diffuser off though.
Here in Quebec it would cost something around 250-300$ CAD

If a shop wanted to charge 250-300 USD I would definitely have them do it for that much. I was more so wondering if shops offer spot correction that may just cover it up somewhat so it is less noticeable? Or if there was a way for me to do it. Everything I find on youtube is showing repair of way more major/larger damage. |

If the plastic is dented, there is not magic trick to make it disappear. Unless you put a sticker on top of it!
I get great quote from a shop near me that is not a big brand and he usually does it under the table... Not good for the economy, but good for both of us. Maybe you can look around for a similar shop in your area.

If it's dented in "only" try using a hair dryer or heat gun to soften the plastic and pop out. You may want to remove the diffuser to make it easier to pop out.
If it's a hole, there is plastic patch which you can use if you feel up to it. If it's just a scratch, try Langka...I'm in the process of using that now on a 2" scratch.
