Will tuning void my warranty?

I have a 2021 Camaro LT1 and I am interested in tuning and dyno. Will having my car tuned void my warranty?

This is what I’m worried about. I’m thinking about pulling the trigger earlier then I planned so that I can get it tuned.

Wait until you add mods that require a tune, typically that starts with long tube headers. That way you won’t have to get tuned again when you mod for the first time. When you do get a tune, make sure you invest in a dyno and street tune. Simply tuning off the dyno leaves HP on the table and can result in some drivability issues. Tuning a totally stock vehicle will pick up some HP but it is not a cost effective option in my opinion.

He's being a little dramatic but to answer your question it's getting harder to crack these new ecus and with the push for electric/epa restrictions some people think tuning is on its way out.

The Magnuson Act says they have to prove that the modified part caused the failure so there may be some gray area depending on the problem but don't expect much. Depending on the dealer they may not go right to the ecu on an otherwise stock vehicle and you might get lucky, never know. But a major powertrain failure they'll definitely look so you need to be prepared for the worst or don't do it.

My dealer has covered the a8 shudder issue, a broken afm valve, and a noisy rear end knowing full well I'm modded. But if my engine pops I'm not even going there.

And don’t believe people who tell you it’s possible to fool the dealer by just flashing back to stock.

The tool the dealer uses can see flash counts on the ECU. There is also a checksum that changes every time the ECU is written.

Mat is correct that you can't fool the dealer. You cannot get too complacent when dealing with mod friendly dealers either. If you scatter the motor, GM has to approve the replacement and you can bet that they will want to see the flash count.

Yes tuning will void your warranty but if you’re not concerned about losing it, then tune away!
