10 QTS OIL AND STILL ONE QT LOW

I just did my first oil and filter change. I filled the motor with 10 quarts of Mobile One and my dip stick tells me I still am one quart low. Anybody experience this, too.

Did you wait a little while before checking the level?

Is the car level?
Are you reading the dipstick correctly?

You should not have to put an additional quart of oil in it.

I agree with the above replies. Don’t overfill the engine.

I let it warm up for at least five minutes.

The car is level. The dipstick shows the oil just touching the bottom of the cross hatch section.

I just checked again, oil has been in car for a couple of hours, it is about 1/3 the way up the cross hatch section.

Well, if im wrong, shouldn't it be a little low because the new oil filter is going to eat a little of it up?

Op- Is your drain plug still left out? LOL- Just messin' with ya! In all seriousness though I do remember after my 500 mile oil change it seemed about 3/4 the way up the hash area (to the full side) which I thought seemed low given the thought that you can't ever completely drain ALL the old oil out as it will sit there and drip-by-drip forever if you would let it. Same thing, used the 10 Quarts as is called for, also with the Mobil 1 ESP 0W-40. Oddly enough, on my 1500 mile oil change it seemed to be more appropriately at the top of the hash area (where it should be). Both times I changed the oil the same way with checking level after getting her off the race ramps, shutting her down, and coming back to check in an hr or so. But weird that yours was showing so low? I always figure the oil is going to need time to work down through the motor so I always check it right after the oil change, but definitely like to wait and check again the next day letting it sit overnight to see what I got for a more accurate reading than immediately after changing.

I fill my oil filter with oil before screwing it on the engine when I change the oil in the car or truck I own but I don’t put more than 10 quarts in the Camaro.

I do this as well. I also like the oil midway on the hatch unless going on a longer ride or trip

Both my 2017 and my 2020 took about 10.5 quarts to be half way in the crosshatch section.

My 2020 LT1 also took 11 quarts. I also prefill the oil filter.

NO need to add oil, it's in the crosshatch, it's perfectly fine there.

if it's in the cross hatch section leave it alone.
Check it again first thing in the morning after 500 miles or so.
