Help, looking to quiet LT headers and cam

The SS 1LE I recently purchased is too loud for my local track. The build is a btr cam, 1 7/8” headers cat delete and the stock NPP exhaust., I’m looking to tone the car down some...not only is it too loud for the track but the crackling and burbling in the exhaust sounds about like gunshots. Anyways, I’m looking at kooks 12-19” race mufflers to add in front on the NPP exhaust.

Has anyone done this? Any other ideas? What’s the difference between resonators and mufflers. I found force resonators for the same price as the kooks mufflers....

Put some cats on it. Think that'll solve your problem

I saw both of those threads but both threads are rather open ended. The Borla resonator is $450.00

What on earth are you paying for when kooks makes resonators for 60 bucks each.
Again, anyone know the difference between a resonator and a kooks 4” diameter muffler?
Anyone used the kooks or xforce resonators from summit?

AWE's are about the same as Borla I think.

If I were you, I would call Kooks and ask.

Yeah, I think I’m sticking with the NPP.

And yea, Kooks couldn’t tell me much. They said it would quiet it down a little but all they wanted to do was sell me a full cat-back.

Kooks has a 19” and a 14” round 4” muffler for 60 each...I’d say that should work as well as $450 Borla dual resonator....

There’s a borla resonator for sale in the classifieds. I will be installing one this winter to see what it does

Thanks. I think I’m going to give the kooks Round mufflers a shot. Now to decide between the 14” and 19”. I’ll post back my results.

What Is a Resonator? While mufflers reduce the exhaust volume, resonators tune the exhaust for a more pleasant sound. Resonators will remove some of the raspy and high-pitched noises from the exhaust but won't do anything to muffle the volume

My opinion is you almost need both with LTs and the NPP exhaust. TBD

This is what I am going to try on my ss 1le. Summit Racing® Exhaust Insert Cones SUM-629020.

I bought two of these but yet to install in the exhaust tips themselves. Once the three sided flange is cut off the cones they will go in the tips far enough to not be too visible and just a little spot weld to hold them in place(easily removed if wanted)

Like is said. I have not installed mine yet and plan on doing the non-valve side first?
The cone will clear the valve and allow it to operate.
